That was a damn good Pilot. It is great to have some Sorkin dialogue on my TV again.

I thought
[Show spoiler]that was pretty much confirmed at the end when she had the signs in her notebook and thought about chaising him to the lobby to show him
.

You've got the rapid fire dialogue. You've got the Sorkany style of preaching.

It's pretty much all the same as it was when it started in the 1998 TV comedy turned drama, "Sports Night."

And I'll probably keep watching until the day Sorkin stops writing. It is, at the very least, better than Studio 60... and I loved Studio 60.
You also have the exes working with each other, and others falling in love with each other .

Nevertheless, I absolutely agree with you. We've seen it many times before, but it's still incredibly good to watch. Hopefully it'll continue to be this great.

And by the way, I did really like the fact that the show looked and sounded nothing like The West Wing and Studio 60. While that particular style worked fantastically with TWW, I thought it was a bit cheap to replicate the same look and work with the same composer. The look of The Newsroom is completely different, but yet right for the project. Thomas Newman's score was also just right.

I did want to hit the guy who played Don on the head, though. But that's probably just good acting and writing .

I thought the pilot was damn good. I'm a producer at a news station, so I was definitely pumped when I heard about this. I'm a sucker for that sort of stuff... Broadcast News, Network, etc. (I even kinda liked Morning Glory). It's lived up to my expectations so far. Sorkin can do no wrong.

From what I gathered, the press was given the first 4 episodes for reviewing. They said episode 1 was great/good/etc but 2-4 were downright horrible

I thought the first episode started out great, but
[Show spoiler]it devolved into ridiculousness with how perfectly the BP oil spill story came together. The new producer had a sister and college roommate who worked for Halliburton and BP... give me a break.

Did anyone catch what the door man said at the end. Some of the convo's in the show I miss because they talk so damn fast.

Anyways, another good episode. I hope they use Olivia Munn way more, I love her.

I'm loving this. Having worked at a news station myself, this show is a barrel of laughs. Yes, it's exaggerated - but the pre-show tension illustrated here is not that far off.

Too bad Olivia Munn's character isn't actually named Victoria Secret.

Second episode was just OK. I did love it when
[Show spoiler]the show was falling apart and he just keep pushing and pushing the guests to see how bad he could make it - just to prove a point
. I was cracking up.

I believe he said:

[Show spoiler]"We look after our neighbors her Sir"
or something along that line

[Show spoiler]I think they all got the impression that he was strongly against the Arizona Law

That's my take on it anyways. Good episode but not as good as the pilot. I'll keep watching for now

I enjoyed ep2. I know someone mentioned the next few didn't get as great reviews, but the truly witty dialogue makes it great, even if not much happened .

This helps me imagine how Letterman must have reacted after McCain backed out of his appearance and was found with Katie Couric during the taping. That's what the second episode reminded me of, strangely, and I just loved the lesson Will taught the staff.

HBO is back.
