Oh cool, just in time for the 35th Anniversary! This is a wonderful film. I saw it dozens of times a kid. The early scenes on the desert island should look especially fantastic in hi-def.

I haven't seen the sequel in about thirty years though, I imagine it's not likely that will be released any time soon. So many sequels not on blu.

Looks like Amazon has done another sterling effort

in linking old reviews from older releases to this newer release, which of course hasn't even come out yet. I just hate how sloppy Amazon became with grouping all reviews together (DVD, VHS, Blu-ray) for the same title.

In this case it appears some of these reviews, which date from 2003, say it's for a TV series by the same name. I'd ignore them as they are obviously in error.

I emailed owner of theblackstallion.com. I think he is the son of the book author???
He has been trying for years to get this on Blu and thinks its a bootleg.

The author of the book, The Black Stallion, has a son that runs a website called theblackstallion.com. He has been very vocal in the past about getting the film on blu ray. I emailed him to let him know about the release and his response was it was possibly a boot-ray. I dont know what inside connections he has, if any... just passing it along.

On a side note, I purchased a replica of the miniature stallion that was won in the card game from that site. Pretty cool.

It's coming from the studio. Why would it be a bootleg, or boot-ray, as he calls it. Why would he even think that?
Last time I checked, movie studios don't make bootlegs of their own films.
