I thought Zathura was the sequel?

Agree 100 %. Robin Williams was awesome in that film well he was great all the time I just don't see the need for this. Just make a sequel to it and Zathura.

Nothing wrong with the original.
They look through their properties, and see what they'd like to reboot. This must have had enough positive things going for it, in terms of home video sales and theatrical box office originally, to make them want to bring it back 20 years later for a new audience.

They could've re-released the original in theaters, but decided to spend the money to reimagine it I guess.

I would prefer if they just called it Jumanji Returns (2).

Why can't they just do another loosely-linked sequel? Zathura: A Space Adventure was brilliant because it did something new with the idea of a board game coming to life; I'd like to see something as inventive with the Jumanji idea as that.

There's so many more interesting possibilities they could explore other than a remake. Remaking it is just the lazy and unimaginative option.

Okay. This was bound to happen and I do still intend, if this is the real deal, to withhold judgment until I see the film, but just WTF? Jumanji is a classic and one of Robin Williams' best roles. Leave it alone please Sony. You money grubbing *****.

Very cool about Dwayne Johnson....not so much about Kevin Hart.

Man, I'm in. Not kidding either. Love Jonson, and he and Hart seem to have great chemistry together. So, count me in. It'll never replace the Joe Johnston original, with the late Robin Williams (RIP... ), but this can easily sit beside it on my shelf as a fun take on the material.

Jumanji is not on the level of a classic film. I liked it but would not be surprised to see the new one stand it's ground with it.

I would have to strongly disagree. Robin was great in everything but this is not one of those films where he did anything spectacular.

Dwayne Johnson is no substitute for Robin Williams.
