Oh, so the Oscars '12 was just an extended plug for Iris?
At the time, thought they were bringing Cirque back because the theme of the whole show with Billy Crystal back was "Greatest things the Oscars ever did right, unlike, ahem, last year", and they wanted to recreate the '02 moment with a new bit.

From the "movies" theme, was hoping it was something a little more thematically tailored, like their Super Bowl '07 show:

I think that may be, along with the La Nouba trampoline act and the yo-yo girls from the same show, my favorite Cirque act!
