THE NEVERENDING STORY with packaging in the style of the book from the film, a Director's Cut with interviews with the cast.
WATERWORLD 3-hour cut without the cable TV edits (Jean Tripplehorn's ass didn't make the longer cut that was released on DVD) FRIGHT NIGHT II on Blu-ray And I'd like to wake up and realize the news that THE ABYSS won't be coming out until 2014 was just a terrible nightmare ![]() |

After reading the below, I would say The Best Years of Our Lives.
MGM asked Marketing Research Industries to create a marketing proposal for the release of "The Best Years of Our Lives" on BD http://www.unc.edu/courses/2007sprin...RS/Fdr2B_1.pdf |

I'd say I, the Jury (the '82 version) takes the cake as far a release I really want but never expect to happen, the only release on any format so far that I'm aware of is a VHS from CBS/FOX back in the late eighties. Runner-up would be David Cronenberg's Crash which did get a good DVD release but considering it hasn't been released anywhere on Blu-ray yet a U.S. release seems highly unlikely.
As far as recent announcements go, House of Dark Shadows was pretty flooring. I was expecting just a Warner Archive release as I figured they wouldn't think it would make enough profit for a Blu-ray release but thankfully I was proven wrong. |

Tombstone: Kurt Russel's Cut - Hollywood Legend has it when this movie was filming it went through several director's and Russell himself directed many scenes and it had a different tone/feel to it before George P. came on board.
Halloween 666: The Producer's Cut - sans a bootleg 3000 Miles to Graceland - When the film finished shooting, Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell disagreed about the way the film should feel. The studio let both stars edit their own versions which were then shown to test audiences. Russell's cut was more comedy oriented and focused on his character's relationship with Cybil (Courteney Cox) while Costner's was more action oriented. M*A*S*H - The Complete Series |

If it's not laziness then it's blatant arrogance and stubbornness and its basically something that seems to have occurred in the last 3 years or so because they never had any period of this length (well over a year, last release was July 2011 and if we get an announcement next month then it would be released in November which will be 16 months) without a release when they were releasing his movies on dvd. Honestly, I very seriously doubt we would have the ones we do had 2010 not been the man's 100th birthday. We might have Seven Samurai but I would bet money that we wouldn't have Yojimbo/Sanjuro. Stuff like this along with their utterly laughable prices as well as their snobbish attitude that they exude and encourage in their fan base is the reason why whenever I do buy their stuff, I buy it from a private individual used. I own quite a few of their dvd's/blu-ray's but Criterion the company has never seen one dime of my money and that will not change and as I said it's mostly because of bullshit like this.
