Easily, The Matrix for me. It's one of those films where I didn't know what to expect going in the theater to see it for the first time and blew me away!

I was there for Star Wars. My choice would be The Exorcist.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but...STAR WARS.

Also:

Jaws
Halloween (1978)
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Pulp Fiction

This list could go on, and on...

I would like to watch the following movies again for the first time to relive the jaw dropping twist they provide: The Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, and The Sixth Sense.

If I could truly go back in time for something movie related, I would nofity the Aurora CO police dept of an armed James Holmes and his attempt to sneak into the back of the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

I remember waiting forever in line to see it that September, but that was after it had been out for sometime.

Opening day would have been a big snooze for that film.
Yeah, I was in high school as well. I saw it in mid-June on a Fri or Sat night and there was a good crowd but it wasn't even close to shoulder-to-shoulder yet.

Depends. Not every small-mid sized theater was equipped to take advantage of Dolby Stereo but many were and while analog left-center-right-surround might seem primitive now it sounded freaking fantastic.

And I can only imagine what it must have sounded like in the handful of theaters that could 70mm prints.

Don't know about opening day but i wish i would have seen this in the theatre. I pretty much hate 3d at this point and have yet to see a movie in 3d i like. My friends keep saying avatar was amazing, and honestly i myself would like to see the flick that started the 3d fad again just to see it based on technical merit in terms of use of 3d as a tool.

The best theater experience I've ever had was watching Scary Movie. The theater was packed and I was with 5 of my best friends. The whole audience laughed the entire time. All the jokes and gags were so fresh at the time that it was something we really haven't seen before. I would love to relive that again.

I was originally thinking along the lines of a gala Warner premier in the forties...The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon...that sort of thing.

But if I could get a mindwipe and go into the film blind I would go with either Frankenstein or Psycho. I would love to experience those films the way audiences at the time did.

I was there for Star Wars. My mom was pregnant with me. Other than that I have been to all of the opening day films I would like except The Exorcist. I would have loved to see people running from the theater and passing out.

Another one that I think would have been awesome to see is The Wizard Of Oz. I can only imagine of what it was like for those back in 1939 who had witnessed the film transition from black and white to color when Dorothy opened that door. It must have been mind blowing.

I know, but it'd be cool to go back and see it in the early 1900's and experience the feeling of seeing something so grand and new

If I had a time machine, I'd show them all Avatar and see their minds be completely blown, I'd also claim to be James Cameron as well
