I have to agree. while it is reference, the source isn't the best, Samsara being a new film will look amazing!

Very true and VC-1 encoding is not near reference one neither. It can be improved quite a lot.

Samsara will no doubt look amazing. So hoping they fix the compression on Baraka. Then it will be even more

worthy.

Absolutely - if I want to show people how amazing blu-ray can look, its the disc I always choose. Its just so good I wish it was even better, which it could be if they fixed compress etc

Well-it's all about 70mm source which looks stunning by itself and even if transfer is not the best it still looks amazing.

Went to see it tonight in the cinema and have fallen in love with it
I love photography, so this I could watch on loop and find something new everytime

I like going to the cinema on my own and got lucky that there was only 1 other person in the screening,
otherwise it felt like I had my own private screening

I've never seen Baraka, so I can't compare the experience, but Samsara will be etched in my mind forever

It'll be playing in October in Canada, so I need to go to the site and check on the theatres. Would love to see this on a the big screen!

Release date is January 14th 2013. The double pack is £17.99 on PLAY (which is a bargain).

Are you sure that this is the new special double-pack release with new videotransfer of Baraka? Maybe it just an ordinary online store offer - buy two different items at a discounted price, where Baraka blu-ray was the 2008 release edition.

To be honest, i've not heard anyting to say Baraka has been given a remaster, so just assumed it was the same disc anyway.
