Angry I'll stop buying from Amazon, if they don't want my business!

Amazon is so desperate to get people to pay for Prime they are slowing super saver orders down more and more. It's at the point of ridiculousness. I ordered the movie JAWS on April 23rd (4 months ago), it was released on Tuesday and it hasn't even shipped yet (it isn't even being prepared to ship). Just 6 months ago, Amazon always got pre-ordered items to me within 3 days of release. Now it's always a full week or more.

They also stopped even remotely trying to meet their own estimated arrival dates. I ordered an HDD that was a deal of the day a while back (or a lightning deal, I forget which) and it was scheduled to arrive on August 13th. I ordered it August 6th. It hasn't even shipped yet. It's not even being processed.

Amazon is driving away some of their most loyal customers in the name of Prime. I ordered 29 items from them in the past month. Of the 12 that shipped, 11 arrived AFTER the estimated arrival date (3 of them over a week after the already ludicrously long estimate). That's just poor customer service. It's beyond poor customer service. It's passive-aggressive behavior.

I have not joined Prime. I will not join Prime. Amazon clearly wants to get rid of free shipping, but until they do so they should, at the very least, make an attempt to get at least 50% of a customer's orders to the customer by the latest estimated arrival date.

I've been doing more and more of my ordering from Amazon's online competitors. With Best Buy, Deep Discount, New Egg, etc. I don't see a reason to stick with Amazon. Maybe they want to become a "Costco" of online shopping with Prime members being the ONLY members who can order an item.

If so, they missed the biggest part of Costco's appeal: The lowest prices. Amazon pretty much gave up on being a price leader well over a year ago. And now they've went ahead and surrendered their status as the most reliable online company, when it comes to orders arriving in a timely fashion, as well.

I'm sorry, but I am really getting tired of this. Am I the only one who's noticed Amazon's downhill tumble?

I agree. I usually bundle things to get free shipping. Then they sit for 3-5 days unshipped. When I cancel, miraculously one item ships, incurring shipping costs. I get the shipping reimbursed by complaining, but shouldn't have to be like this. I do my shopping at ebay. Better prices even with shipping and much better customer service.

I would think their most loyal customers HAVE Prime. Quit fighting it and give in. Prime is so worth it! All the extra stuff you get with it too.

Prime is great - almost anything and everything I could ever want to buy arrives in one or two days. They had a promotion two years ago that gave a year of free Prime to anyone with a college email address, and I was able to renew for $40 last and this year. I now use Amazon for buying virtually everything except groceries, and even those now and again: 5 pounds of gummi bears for $12.73, anyone?

Prime is fantastic!! Any new release I order is @ my door on release day.

Ordered my books for school online Monday night around 10:30, they will be here 2morrow…..i missed the time frame to have gotten them by today.

But no big deal…..saved almost $100 vs. buying them @ the book store @ the school.

Let’s not forget, Amazon doesn’t have to offer free shipping on orders of $25 or more….they could just as easily take that away and charge you shipping on everything.

Seems kind of petty to complain about a free service.

For me, I buy enough from them to justify the $79 each year. We also tend to buy most of our x-mas gifts from amazon as well.

I agree with the others. If your such a loyal customer that you buy that much from them then you should already have prime. This last year that I have been a prime member it has more then paid for itself between the 2 day shipping and the prime instant video. Even when they start charging tax for my state next month I will still come out ahead by ordering from them with prime.

I don't agree. Any service should be done well, especially if it's customer service related. A free car wash is worthless if they scratch your car up.

but it's still free. it's been a while since i've had to wait for their shipping....but doesn't it say it's 2-9 days for standard shipping??

and that's just an estimate....it's not a guarantee.

Bad analogy, though... because Amazon isn't scratching up the Super Saver orders any more than they do a Prime order.

The only complaint here is that Prime gets their orders quicker than Super Saver... which, be the very description on Amazon's site is EXACTLY how they say it will work!

You can complain if your free car wash damages your car... similarly, you can complain if your free shipping is lost OR damaged...

But you can't complain if your free car wash takes a little longer than a paid one... like you can't complain when free shipping is slower than paid shipping.

People always have the option either to pay for Prime OR on an individual basis, spring for faster shipping on that particular order.

You can't choose free shipping and then complain that it isn't as fast as shipping that you pay extra for... that logically makes no sense.

It's like paying for chopped sirloin and complaining it doesn't taste as good as filet!

This x 1,000.

I paid the $79 for it shortly after I got fed up with waiting for my Black Friday 2011 hauls to come in. Within a week, I caved, and I've been ordering everything 2 day shipping free and loving it; getting new release items ON release day, guaranteed!

Also, it saves you money, in a way. Spend $25 to get free shipping, right? Say a BD goes on sale for $7.99. Your brain is like, "I don't want to pay more than that $7.99 for that BD! Let me buy one or two more to pay that exact price for each and get free shipping," only to get it a week or so later. With Prime? Yeah, $7.99 for one item, see you in 2 days, buddy.

I never understood people calling themselves loyal, but never a part of a membership that place has to offer. You're a frequent customer, and as much as they should still value you for ANY business, that Prime shows more loyalty to them and I noticed that I was given more "one-time exceptions" after I got it-- Maybe a coincidence, but still worth it.

Do this: Sign up for Prime one month trial in a month that will have a lot of releases (September). Try it. If you absolutely HATE it, then quit it and stick to free super savers. When you realize what you've been missing, delete this otherwise useless thread and enjoy Prime like the rest of us and welcome to the family, man! Black Friday 2012 for you will be AMAZONING! (Get it? Yeah, bad pun, I know )

I'll say this as one of the original Amazon customers back in the 90s, they've had to make some adjustments as they've gotten bigger. Prime is much more valuable and worth it in the fourth quarter, when Amazon hires more workers and everything is seemingly shipped immediately.

I hadn't thought of the original design in years. The current design has been in place for so long I had forgotten what Amazon once looked like in the early years.

Smart move my friend. I stopped shopping in Amazon for a while now and don't have any regrets.

I've used Merchant Sellers too but I'm generally highly skeptical on using them ... I've only ordered a few items through AMK.

Amazon

So far, Amazon has been good to me. I have received all my orders within 6 business days or less using their free shipping promo ($25 qualified items). This is the only online retailer that I trust and order from. Even though I have gotten 2 items damaged in transit, both times Amazon has refunded my card and allowed me to keep the order. Although, they only cost about $6-$7. Getting free shipping, no sales tax and I earn Reward Points for additional discounts off of my purchases. I have absolutely nothing to complain about. Amazon is the best!

P.S. The only thing that concerns me is the emails that Amazon sends to me. They know what I add and remove from my Shopping Cart. It's like they are watching me!
