It's only £33 on Amazon
if you enjoy Buffy definitely pick up Angel. Its not better than Buffy in my opinion but certainly my 2nd fav. show you need to watch seasons 1-3 of Buffy first though to fully appreciate it.

Add another voice to the 'buy Buffy and Angel' camp.

The effects are dated and the stunt work is occasionally dodgy, but these are 2 of the best written shows ever made. Once part way through season 2 of Buffy your in for nothing but good.

Now if Fox would just remaster everything for a Blu-Ray...

Yeah, I was thinking of watching Buffy first. Then i'll get Angel if i feel like it

It's such a shame that the only Joss Whedon show i ever watched and adore (Firefly) is the one that only got one season...

I think the lack of X-Files, Buffy, Angel and the first seasons of 24 is a good indicator that we're probably never getting these on Blu Ray...

I have no idea what kind of stuff they were filmed on, but the early seasons of Buffy and the X-Files are terrible quality. I think US SD is quite a bit worse than the UK standard of SD? I seem to remember it being something like the US was 480 and the UK was 580 or thereabout? So UK SD picture was almost right between US SD and the current 720 HD that TV uses.

I really doubt they could do much with it on blu-ray other than more episodes per disc

Series 1 & 2 were shot on 16mm with Series 3 onwards being shot on 35mm.

After spending £300 in Fopp, £30 in HMV today, and another £30 online at HMV, I restricted myself to the Danny Boyle blu-ray boxset, as I've been after this for a bit. It was £16.97 and although I already own Slumdog Millionaire, it was the price I wanted to pay. I so nearly bought the Lethal Weapon boxset as well. Don't make me do it

Fopp? Didn't think that still existed. The one here in Southampton closed and was replaced with a large CeX. And yes, this end of summer sale is very tempting.

And all the FX were done after each episode had been transferred to video, so it could have great picture if it were released on Blu-ray but all the FX would have to be redone like with Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Community Season 1 is £10.97 and is without a doubt one of the best shows on TV at the moment. Highly recommended!

I go to Bristol and London a few times a year and they have stores there. They have an Artificial Eye sale on at the moment and I bought a load of boxsets such as the Theo Angelopolous, Hal Hartley, Aki Kaurismaki and Claude Chabrol collections. They didn't have all the ones I wanted, so who knows what I could have spent. They were only about £15 each in there and about £30 each on Amazon, so I had to take advantage. Everytime I get items I'm after, I find out about more I want, so I'm slowly finishing parts of my collection off. I've just finished the Third Window collection so far. Next are the rest of the Artificial Eye, Arrow Classics and Park Circus. I could have done with some of those being in the Amazon sale

Also Supernatural Seasons 1-6 is only £49.97 which seems a bargain at only £8.33 per season.

Also casting my vote for people to buy Buffy and Angel as they are my 2 favourite series ever! Well worth practically any price.

If there's one positive point to go with this potential Buffy movie, its that it might motivate remastering the shows ala TNG. On the bright side, Buffy probably has fewer effects than Star Trek so it wouldn't cost quite as much.

Buffy. Yeah, but they shouldn't look that bad. Really dark, noise reduced to death & the standards conversion from NTSC to PAL can't have helped. Nearly all UK drama was shot on 16mm, so it can look really good. Sooner or later Fox is going to have to bite the bullet & scan all the original negs to HD & re-do all the effects. It would be a good earner for them. I'm sure TV stations around the world are less & less interested in SD programs.

slightly off topic but lol i just tried to buy a blu-ray from an amazon seller and after ordering i politely requested it packed in a bubble envelope so it has some protection and arrives in the condition described as ive had a few sent in brown paper recently and they have been damaged.

a few minutes later he cancelled the order and sent me a message saying "he would rather not sell to me because he could imagine me being a pain in the bollocks....lol theres a first for me. how ridiculous

You should forward that message on to Amazon, after an order is canceled by the seller you can't leave them any feedback but you can still tell Amazon whatever feedback you have.

Always check the user rating of the sellers you ordering from. If it's below 95 don't bother.

A pain in the bollocks? That's a new one. The guy deserves a kick in the.... They probably just stick a stamp on the BD case and write your address on the shrinkwrap with a Sharpie™.

Oh crap! I've just given a few Marketplace sellers a money saving packaging idea!
