In this part of the country, basements are virtually non-existent so finding space for a proper home theater presents an even greater challenge.
In my case, our home had a bonus room off the kitchen which the builder described as an "Entertainment Room." This was a perfect start for a home theater. All that was necessary to prepare the room, other than running all the required wiring, was to enclose an archway between the kitchen and theater and turn an open, arched entryway in to a proper doorway.
