Pioneer, Onkyo and Denon are good quality A/V receivers. It's all based on personal preferences, like everything else.

Now, I have just done some testing and with my Pioneer BDP-LX52 decoding within the player and sending PCM to my Pioneer VSX-921 receiver, with Clash of the Titans, Max Payne and Baraka, all with 5.1 DTS-HD MA tracks, my receiver is displaying 8 channels, with Transformers 5.1 TrueHD track its displaying the correct 6 channels. I haven't tested any more titles. My player is running the latest firmware, my receiver cannot be updated, could this be an issue with DTS-HD MA? Could anyone else try this out?

Btw, I do decode within the player so that I can make use of PQLS, and with only running a 2 channel setup at this time, I cannot fully test this situation.

Tech, thanks for taking the time to test. I would be curious if you could hear sound from your rear surround channels (if you could) like I do on 5.1 source material.

No problem . I wish I could but I am only running a 2 channel setup. Hopefully someone else can test this out. Are you sure Blade Runner reads as being 8 channels on your receiver? I will test mine tonight.
