No,it's not coming via Criterion, but Anchor Bay Entertainment.According to Walmart page,Blu-ray is due on February 26th.

20-minute reel of deleted scenes and footage from the film will be included among extras.
[Show spoiler]
-an extended breakfast scene between Freddie Quell (Joaquin Phoenix) and Peggy Dodd (Amy Adams) in which she explains time holes
-Clark (Rami Malek) telling Freddy that Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman) once died in a hospital for seven minutes, which inspired him to write his book
-Another Lynch-ian scene, this time with Freddie guarding the box he dug up in the desert with Lancaster. When he gets curious, he opens it up only for a small fire to pop out of it.
-Freddie is made First Lieutenant of The Cause at the convention, but arrives late after beating up a man outside.

This'll be a great blu. A possibly great transfer from 70mm on an awesome PTA film, with a ton of deleted scenes.

I'm a great admirer of Anderson's work, but The Master left me with a feeling of relative indifference. It contained beautiful scenes (particularly in the first half) and great performances, but its seemingly interminable length made it a chore to sit through. As a completist, I will purchase the blu ray, but I wouldn't rank this alongside PTA's greatest achievements (There Will Be Blood, Magnolia, Boogie Nights).

I'm sure they advertised more scenes than these, I'm hoping they don't jive us out of any

I wanted to see this movie so bad at the cinema but it near played close to me. The nearest place it was playing was like 90 miles away. Now while I would have been willing to go that far the see it,I don't drive and no one I know would be willing to take me that far just to see a movie. So in other words,I can't wait for this to hit blu-ray. I've loved every PTA film so far and I'm sure I'll love this one to.

Is there any reason to be frightened that this is a Starz/Anchor Bay release? Do they have a history of doing nice jobs with their Blu-ray releases?

There's really no reason to worry about new movies on BD. Starz/Anchorbay is fine. Their discs for The King's Speech, Lawless, and The Walking Dead are all solid.

A reason to be excited: they usually drop in price fairly quickly!

I just got an e-mail from Amazon saying that my order of The Master on blu ray's estimated arrival date is Jan.24th-Jan.30th. What's up with this?

Amazon now shows it shipping in 1-3 weeks. Is this a mistake, or is it now coming out early?
