I guess that happened to the LOTR movies, but again, the director probably really approved the Blu-ray masters.

I think the only one that upset people was The Ring, but Paramount messes up everything.

I thought the Ring wasn't good when I watched it in the theater. Couldn't tell you if they altered the look of it for home release.

Don't have LOTR on home video. Can't speak for that either.

James Cameron approved Aliens. He even killed much of the grain. What're you gonna do, though? He's the King of the World.

I wouldn't know.
It's not impossible.
When you have some nitwits saying even Taxi Driver is teal, that's when you know you're dealing with clueless individuals who have no actual experience with how these films originally looked.

Watch a 35mm print I have access to. Or just the DVD.

I know Cameron approved it. He admitted he changed it. Sucked the color right out of the film.

I didn't think Taxi Driver looked teal when I watched the blu.

Yeah, but those films were originally filmed to look like that. More power to them.

Aliens wasn't
Terminator wasn't

My problem arises when they alter an old film, that was never intended to have the teal look, is altered to have the teal look. It is trend following horseshit.

That statement by you is glorious! Thank you so much! It is obvious they boosted some of the pictures to make it even worse. Are you starting to understand why many like me have a problem when they alter old films?

Or the director wants the movie to look like that? It isn't about a trend, it's about what the director wants it to look like, for better or for worse. If the director wants to push a different color tint on these releases, that's their right. Just as you have a right to enjoy the original versions that you're used to. It's simple, really.

And it is my right to call them trend following twits. Aliens was not meant to look teal green. It was meant to look steel blue. To me it is just as bad as having Greedo shoot first.

My problem is that for all the howling that goes on about it, the number of blu-rays with actual digital teal makeovers could be counted on a few fingers.

Whining about altering the original colors of older films to follow current trends. Hell, half the posts on this forum seem to be people complaining or worrying about packaging instead of the thing that is actually important, the films.

I can't complain about something that is actually important?

I didn't say it wasn't your right. In fact, I never hinted at that. All I said was they have a right to change it, and you have a right to enjoy the films the way you want if you have the means. Not everyone is going to be happy and agree, but sometimes the color shifts aren't a huge deal. I thought it worked for 'The Matrix', 'Raiders', and 'The Terminator' looks like it's going to be solid as well, but I won't make a judgement until I've seen it. Honestly, the tint isn't really what matters to me in the end, as long as the movies content and story is left completely intact, unlike what has happened to 'Star Wars'. But there again, Lucas has every right to change his vision, just as much as I have every right not to enjoy it and enjoy the unaltered DVDs.

There is pages and pages and pages of people complaining about the films, not just their packaging. This forum is swimming in it. Just go look at the 'Star Wars', 'Indiana Jones', and 'Lord of the Rings' threads. Hell, even 'Memento' and it's anniversary release thread had similar problems. People complaining about this stuff isn't unheard of on here. Far from it.

I jumped on teal. You can change out teal, with any other color you want. When they decide to alter the color timing of a film, multiple decades after it's initial release, that is horseshit. At least have the balls to make both versions available on the same release.

I think my biggest complaint arises when they say "This is how it was always supposed to look" after changing the color timing.

Bull.
****ing.
Shit.
