+1. Definitely a repackaging.

They should not, but they will. Same thing with Paramount releasing "Hondo" as part of their centennial (at least according to the press release here), when the movie was originally a Warner release, back in 1953. And I thought Universal was going to fall into this trap releasing "Double indemnity" as part of their centennial, but it seems they have restrained themselves from doing this.

Sherlock Holmes is an okay movie but it really does not belong with most of the movies in this set. I think the Lord of the Rings is way over represented too. One movie from the trilogy would have been enough.

Does this mega-set really appeal to anyone? I mean, we're talking about 50 unrelated titles whose only commonality is the studio that controls their home video rights.

And considering these are all readily available on their own, I give it a big "meh." I just don't see the market for this, especially considering it's gonna be hella expensive. Who is this for?

So..19 of the 28 I listed made it into their list of 50. Guess it wasn't that highly ambitious after all huh? I'd also argue that while the list as a whole isn't that bad, some of the ones I mentioned like The Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile, The Goonies, The Searchers, and Blade Runner are much more deserving than the likes Sherlock Homes, The Blind Side, The Dark Knight, and The Hangover

The set should not include ANY MGM, New Line, or Turner owned (Citizen Kane) films at all! Why was I not surprised this would happen? Incidentally I guessed 18 of the films that are going to be in the box set!

There's no question The Big Sleep will be coming sooner or later (and my guess is we'll see an announcement in the next couple months) but releasing it as part of some massive mega-set would have been a terrible move.

I can wait a little longer for a really nice UCE (featuring multiple cuts, let's hope) or the first of what we can hope is many noir box sets.

I wonder if the inclusion of GoodFellas and Unforgiven means there won't be any 'newly remastered Warner's 90th Anniversary' editions heading our way.

What a cumbersome set... I find it strange that Warner Bros. wouldn't want to stick with material that starts with their own logo. Even though I'm not a fan of it, don't you think The Life of Emile Zola should be there? It's the studio's first Best Picture winner after all.

Considering there's little to no demand for that title, I'm not surprised they aren't bothering with it at this point in time.

This is a set entirely made up of existing releases that Warner has the rights to currently (regardless of whether they also had them). They have the rest of the year to release new titles

The Goonies more deserving than The Dark Knight? How about no. But you're right about the rest of the list!
