I don't think anyone saw this coming!

I'm shocked but excited. Disney has done some great stuff with Marvel and I can only look forward to seeing this! Explains the sudden speed up in the 3D movie releases as well.

They're going to run this franchise into the ground (moreso than Lucas )

Check out what Iger said with regards to his roadmap:
Quote:
The last Star Wars movie release was 2005's Revenge of the Sith – and we believe there's substantial pent up demand. In 2015, we're planning to release Star Wars Episode 7 – the first feature film under the "Disney-Lucasfilm" brand. That will be followed by Episodes 8 and 9 – and our long term plan is to release a new Star Wars feature film every two to three years

If it is fake, then time magazine got taken for one:

On the bright side ---- what are the odds that we will get a blu-ray re-release that includes the original (un Lucas edited) versions of the original trilogy?

Fully hope this to be an Pixar adventure and not live action like John Carter "Star Wars For the new generation" indeed...

Re: The original theatrical versions of the movies. Lucas has said time and again they'd come eventually. So that's not a big deal.

I know it's not April Fool's Day, but I'm still finding this hard to believe. What's next? Peanuts? Marvel? Harry Potter?

It's just "Disney playing with the new toy", and we usually only get one, when that one eventually turns out to not be as fun as they thought--
That's what they thought about buying Jim Henson, before "Muppet Wizard of Oz" happened.

Disney already bought Marvel awhile ago. So you're too late on that one. But your point is correct.
