I don't think Olive is using any extras from the previous releases, so it may be because Lionsgate retains the rights to those extras? That may be why a new commentary was done. I may double-dip as this is a much better cover, but without that very good documentary on the earlier release, it's going to be hard to sell something when there's a cheaper version out there with more extras. I guess i will just wait and see what the reviews say about the transfer and such.

This is a somewhat curious choice for a reissue on Olive's part, considering there's already a perfectly good Blu widely (and cheaply) available. I'd much rather have Dr. Terror's House of Horrors come out.

For everyone making a similar statement:

If you were provided a chance to sell a product some competitor no longer had the rights to sell... would you allow them to continue making money on that product? Bear in mind, that competitor only has a financial obligation to the company who made the product. You as the new seller receive none of the financial returns from that product.

Yes, Lionsgate has a disc out but Olive is now the seller/distributor and they want a profit from it. The only way to do that is to sell their own release... because Lionsgate is either not going to sell them their old stock or Olive can't afford it.

Its the same with Echo Bridge and Miramax, EB wants their brand on the product and they want as much money as possible. That means they make their own releases rather than buy Disney's old stock.

We as consumers have choices. If you bought it already skip this one. If you want the new commentary then pay up for this one. If you don't own it then you can opt for the older release or wait for the new one if you want.

I will double dip just for the cover art. Cujo's movie poster is one of my all time favs. I remember just staring at it as a kid wondering what the hell was a Cujo.

You do realize that you could just print off a custom cover for a fraction of the cost right?

Yikes... Tough review on here. Still no confirmation of a new transfer or not.

The framing is different than on the Lionsgate disc. It might be a different transfer.

In what way? The scores for PQ and AQ are exactly the same as on the previous release, and aren't overly negative at all.

Lol sorry. I should have been more specific. I was talking about for the actual movie itself... 'Cujo' fan they are not.

Comparing the two reviews, the previous Blu-ray has 5.1 and mono, OAR (1.85:1), a commentary and a 43 min documentary. This release has mono audio only, slightly different aspect ratio (1.78:1), and only has a commentary. Looks like most people were right in that there's no point to getting the new Blu-ray.

Has it been confirmed if the commentary on Olive's release is a newly recorded one or just a mere port-over? If it's the same one, I think that's going to tip me over to cancelling this.

Sure wish they sold that cover art all by itself. LOL. I'm keeping the old disk.

I understand. Sometimes, you're just not prepared for a Stephen King movie to actually be awesome and support the original novel, since it happens so rarely. CUJO rules.

Anyone know if it comes with a slipcover? Most Olive releases do.
