I've put off seeing this for years because I wanted to wait until an uncut version came out. Great news!

Considering that this is a title that Warner discontinued on DVD so that they could release it as a DVD-R through the Warner Archives, this is very interesting news...

Nothing official yet, let's not get our hopes up. First off it's not really Warner that needs to get this going, it's Morgan Creek who has current say over the film and okay'd the Cabal Cut completion and screenings. The money from the current screenings are going to a fund a home video release in the future we all hope.

Until there's a press release or some word from Russell Cherrington posted, take this with a grain of salt and keep an eye on the Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/occupymidian/

I'm not saying I think they are lying. Just seems too good to be true...and long overdue. Hope they follow through.

This is were everyone's mind should be at. Morgan Creek has been less than cooperative for years when it came to this movie. They just got the okay to screen it publicly. One step at a time people. There is still no official news.

Also I'll have you know this hour or so of new footage is from a VHS source and isn't the best quality. For a blu-ray release I would expect something akin to what "My Bloody Valentine" was like with the deleted footage inserted. On the upside they did put effort into it as far as re-dubbing some of the dialogue from the rough deleted scenes. Here's a clip of Doug Bradley in the studio -

MOD BD-R?
Not quite what I was referring to (although I'll admit that that is an eventual possibility, and not one I'm too thrilled with). I was referring more to the fact that here's a title that has a MOD release, which may end up getting a pressed Blu-Ray release. Warner has already started altering how the service works (for example, for any multi-disc sets, it's initially released as a limited pressed disc run, and once it runs out, they burn the discs for future orders). This could be another change; titles originally relegated to the Archive could end up being released on Blu-Ray, which was something we all doubted would happen. It means we could possibly see this happen with some of the more popular sellers get released, or titles that were originally on pressed discs before going the Archive route.

The added footage from what they're screening is from a VHS source, yes, but the film footage isn't lost at all. The studio does have it, and could use it to result in a true HD release of the director's cut. They just aren't wanting to dig into their own pockets for it. The proceeds brought in from the Cabal Cut screenings are going towards getting this Blu-Ray release made.

Hang on,how do you know this?

I've been to the Cabal Cut screening in london and word was that Morgan Creek indeed can't find the footage,at least not so far. It may very well be lost, indeed.

Do you have differing information on this?

Now mind you, this was from 2009, so I'm not sure if events since then have changed the scenario. However, I haven't seen anything since then that contradicts it...

I can see Warner putting this one out via Warner Archive, probably around October.
