Sweet! I had no intention of watching this, piecemeal style, on Machinima. Glad I don't have to wait long for the Blu.

It has. Deadline.com and tvbythenumbers.com both posted articles in the beginning of the year that SyFy had passed on picking up the pilot to series for financial and strategy reasons. They said that the pilot would eventually surface as a movie to appease the fans. I tried a couple quick searches on both websites but I couldn't find the right articles.

Personally with "Defiance" coming out in 2013 and the horrific ratings that 'Caprica' brought in I think SyFy is staying clear of the BSG universe for some reason or another.

As well as any Space based genre show.... in other news Blackout might be a mainstay.... *double face palm*

regardless I'm getting it because I miss seeing space based series on tv... from Space AAB to Farscape to Stargate to BSG....

I don't think it's SyFy making that decision. What we need to remember is that it's NBC Universal producing the Battlestar Galactica series and it's that same movie studio who owns SyFy.

SyFy ordering episodes for this TV series is kind of like Universal paying itself to produce its own show.

i'd be willing to bet that if the blu-ray sells very well, they will consider making a full series for Sci-Fi.

we can only hope, since the cancellation of Caprica (which i was sorry to see go away, i liked where it was headed) i've been jones'n for a good sci-fi series like Galactica or at least in the same vain.

in any case, i'll be picking this up day one, even after watching the youtube showing.

They should sell it then, rather than sit on it.

That 1st episode is okay. A little too cliched for my tastes
[Show spoiler] (simulated battle opening scene, tons of camera shake, the hotshot rookie pilot bit, the irritated veteran that has to put up with him, the whole "I'm cleaning up the last guy out of the cockpit that you inherited a job from" obligatory moment, and so on).

I'll probably watch it all the way through. If it stays like this or gets better, I might pick it up when it goes to disk. If it takes a dip in its current passable quality, I won't.

That trailer actually looks pretty cool. I hate CGI generally speaking, but I like how it looks here - reminds me of movies like Sky Captain, 300 etc.

Well, I was one of the ones who didn't like Caprica. I think the producers tried to create a BG series that was a mix of Law and Order, Melrose Place and Dallas. When yoou think "Battlestar Galactica" the images that come to mind are: science fiction, colonial warriors, cylons and space battles. Not a series about wealthy corporations that create Cylons ...

I thought V was getting pretty good. A shame ABC cancelled it only after 2 seasons.

Sci-Fi belongs to ST and BSG.

I need to check out more like B5.
