Prometheus issues - Blu-ray Forum

Hey guys. So i picked up the 4 disc collectors Prometheus at best buy and the 2D blu-ray disc is all messed up. I get distorted picture, macro blocking across thr screen...had to watch the dvd the other night which didnt have any issues (other tha crappy picture of course lol ) My buddy also went through 3 exchanges of the same movie at Target and kept having thr same issue with the blu-ray. Do they have defective batches in some stores??

A few people in the US and UK have reported issues. Some have had different results with the same players (PS3's), so it's either a production error or a firmware problem. I don't think we've heard anything official.

I watched the 2D UK version on a PS3 and it played fine but some guys have had problems with the menus (I think I've heard problems with the alternate scenes as well) and the film not going back to them after the film finishes.

My 2D disc plays fine in both my BD PC drive and my Playstation 3. I haven't tackled the 3D disc yet, but I probably will soon since I have a 3D display now.

I have problems with the bonus features disc. It won't play in my LG player. It hangs on the loading screen. This is the only disc I've ever had problems with. I exchanged it, but still had the same problem. A friend was able to play the disc on their Playstation, so I figured there was something non-standard about the disc and that the LG player couldn't handle it.

I had called FOX when I had this issue in my Sony player and they said the fix was to erase all the BD Data on my player. It worked, buy I should not have to do that.

My Sony 1000ES blu-ray player which normally plays every movie i throw at it is giving me these issues with Prometheus, so was my PS3. Something's weird about the disc. I'll exchange it and try another one.

It's an LG BD670. It supports BD-Live if you insert a USB flash drive. I see that other people were told to erase their BD data. I have tried the move with and without a flash drive. But I will have to try it with an empty flash drive.

My 2D copy wouldn't play on my PS3. It was studdering constantly. On my Sony BDP-CX7000ES there was no studdering, but in a number of places there was macro blocking and every time a new chapter would start to play the chapter menu would pop up for a few seconds. Really screwed up. The time stamps where I was getting the macro blocking were identical to a number of other people reporting the issue as well, all of which used different model Blu-ray players. Experienced the same macro blocking issues when attempting playback from my laptop running TMT5 and WinDVD. In my case I purchased the title from Amazon.

My 4-disc set hasn't had any problems. I bought mine at BBY during Black Friday.

Is this a USA issue only?

Please count me in with those frustrated by the weirdness that is most definitely attributable to Prometheus.

I have a Sharp AQUOS 80" 3D Quattron TV with their media player blu ray player. I have not had any disc not play. A few weeks ago I took Prometheus 2D from the library, and try as I would, it did not play. All other DVDs and Blu Rays played fine. I took it back.

I rarely buy movies on disc as they only get used once as far as I am concerned. But, at Christmas I bought from Best Buy the 4-disc set. I finally opened it. I checked for updates and my SHARP player is fully updated. But, the fact that this movie from a sealed new package did not play from my new 3D disc... BOTH discs actually hang the Blu Ray player and the only way to shut it down is to hold the Power button until RESET appears.

I will now have to dig the receipt to return the movie if they will even take it.

Very disappointed and annoyed at the makers of this set of discs.
