Agreed on all counts. However, if it has to be Olive, then so be it. I really just want it in HD. If Olive drops the ball and serves up a sub-par transfer, you know someone else will serve up an improved HD release, even if in another country. Of course, if Criterion does it, and properly, all of that could be avoided.

I'd love to delve into a horde of special features about the production. I want to know about Polanski's attitude toward it during filming, and would like to know about what drove him to tell this particular story, in the fashion that he did. Additionally, I want him to speak openly about the attempts at macabre humor, as there are far too many people who insist that there isn't a shred of comedy to be found in the film, which I find odd.

Yes, the film is extremely funny at times, in a sick & twisted way - ha ha.

In his 2015 interview with Brett Ratner, Polanski said it's the only film of his that he would actually want to do a Director's Cut for (mostly to work on the pacing as he thinks it's a tad too long, which I heavily disagree with).

No chance that Paramount would be open to it since they won't even release it on Blu-Ray.

Great to see someone has decided to release this on blu ray in August...even if it is Shock Australia (sigh). Can’t wait to see this again.

I kind of wonder if Criterion is hesitant right now to release any more Polanski because of the controversy his name brings up having more heat lately. At least for awhile. His most recent film never even for a release in the US

Having Tenant with Repulsion/Rosemary would be great. A Knife in the Water upgrade too fingers crossed

It's also on Blu-Ray as part of a massive Polish box set. Haven't watched the disc yet (hopefully that'll happen this weekend) but it looked okay at a glance. No lossless audio, or even French audio, but that's why I mux from other sources whenever possible. In any event, if you have a few hundred bucks burning a hole in your pocket and you refuse to settle for the Shock disc....
