This. I'm foregoing the steel (like i did with Amazing Spiderman) to get the 3D release. Wish all 3D movies with a steelbook out had the 3D version included, like Prometheus, Wrath of the Titans and Immortals.

When i queried this with HMV specifically I was advised there was not enough demand for 3D versions...error! I have every single UK steel release (except Star Trek - cause I aint paying a ton for it) apart from the majority of the ones which have been released in 3D but only 2D in steelbook (i.e Thor, Captain America, Avengers Assemble, Resident Evil Afterlife, Final Destination V, Green Hornet, Green Lantern, Priest, Resident Evil Retribution, The Amazing Spiderman, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, Cars 2, Pirates Of The Carribean On Stranger Tides, Men In Black III) The biggest culprit for these was the HMV exclusives Last edited by BigNickUK; 01-23-2013 at 02:37 PM. |

so has anyone heard about this being sold elsewhere or being fulfilled by HMV?
Quote:
As for the Disney releases of Cars 2 and POTC 4, I redeemed the 3D set for free, added the disc to the steel and resold the ameray with 2D/DC inside I dont agree with buying steel's + 3D copies, so I often forgo the 3D (unless its available in another territory as one set with all formats), thus adding to the so called 'lack of interest' (I know its not quite the same but I have a 3D switch on my TV so can watch the 2D disc in 3D if I really feel the need) After watching the recent Avatar 3D release, I dont see why all disc's cant be encoded like that one - the option to watch as 2D or 3D is on the menu meaning I could sell the 2D and DVD disc's from the steel and have the set I wanted (yes I know I double dipped but the steel was out years ago so its not the same as places expecting you too double dip when the steel and 3D sets are releases on the same day) Or, offer purchase of the '3D disc only' via studio or retailer for a lesser amount - say £5/£7 ish? I'm not against paying extra for the extra disc (though I'd much prefer both 2D/3D on the same disc a'la Avater) but I do begrudge the attempt of forcing double dip's to get the set/formats you want |

That's probably just the manager of my local HMV worrying, though. You should be fine. |

I guess it depends if the stock has been paid for, or if Sony feel they'll get paid now that Hilco are involved. It also might depend if they got the stock in before it all went pear-shaped.
My local HMV had last Monday's releases out including Dredd so there's a chance. |
