More spin-off shit made solely for the purpose of parting parents with their money in order to buy new toys for their kids.

Avoid.

This movie looks like a toddler show that would play on Disney Jr on a weekday morning somewhere between Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Sophia the First.

Did anyone else notice that the first teaser trailer is set to music from White Zombie, specifically, "More Human than Human"?

Cause you know, White Zombie is totally for little kids...

I saw the teaser on the WFRR BD and I nearly did a double take when I saw it was a Disney animated film using their music. Something for older kids, I could understand, but Planes is so obviously for younger children, that it all seemed screamingly inappropriate to me.

Imagine if your child asks where the music is from?

'Monsters University' was using Motley Crue. I think it's good that they're using music that reaches older genrations, because it catches their attention, just like it caught yours. It means now you're paying attention to something you may have initially written off because it's an animated film. It's actually pretty smart.

Except it made me less inclined to want to show it to kids...

Because of one song that probably won't end up in the movie? 'Despicable Me 2' uses Eminem, it wouldn't make any less inclined to show it to kids. It's just a choice because the song fits what they're trying to market. You have to think, from the standpoint of this film, this is a plane that isn't like all the others, so he's trying to prove he's more plane than the planes around him. Sort of fitting, just like with 'Monsters University' using "Kickstart My Heart", because it exemplifies the over the top nature of college. I guess I see why they use it, and I wouldn't have a problem showing it to my kids over the song. In fact, I'd rather they listen to some of the classics than some of the stuff that's made today.

That must be Video Brinquedo...they always have a cheap-assed ripoff of a current CGI animated film on shelves by the time the "real" version is released.

Save for a few exceptions (Aladdin, Toy Story, Bolt) Disney/Pixar don't really hire big name celebrities to voice characters.

How dare you

accuse a very

legitimate indie animation

company to ripping off

its products which seem

completely legit

and original!

Joke aside, Planes looks fun and my 4 yr old is already very much looking forward to it. And probably me too

I would say, It's White Zombie, they are/were a band.

My daughter is not yet 6, her favorite band is Linkin Park. She loves one song by them that she heard on the radio, so she asks me to play it over and over again. I think it's funny. Perhaps I am missing the big deal.
