what copies are affected, is there any way I can tell from the disc number if my copy is an audio issue one?

If you bought it anywhere near release date, your copy is probably affected. You may not have any problems if you're using a PS3 as your blu ray player or you're lucky enough to have a standalone that doesn't have trouble with this disc.

I actually called WB a few months ago when I read about the disc issue with Matrix Revolutions on this forum and the funny thing about it is the lady who took down my info didn't even ask me for a number from the disc or bar code from the box or anything. I could have easily not even bought the trilogy set and they sent me a blu-ray for free.

I must be about the only person who always plays their discs with audio set to always internally decode to PCM, but still had a problem with the disc (with both the audio and the video in my case), on my getting (real) old Panny BD35. (No problems playing it with similar settings on the Oppo 93 though.) Will be interested in getting a remastered copy to see if that helps any, though it sounds like they're trying to be real stingy about it.

Thanks for the info.

I wonder if anyone contacted Disney about "Pixar Shorts 2" "Brave" or "Finding Nemo", all of which utilize TrueHD and have dropout issues as well.

Call Sony Consumer Affairs - SPHE Consumer Affairs - 800-860-2878 and they will take your name, email, address, and the UPC code from the faulty disc. They are going to send a FedEx voucher out when the new discs are ready and you have to return the original and they will send out a replacement. The rep confirmed they will have a different UPC so future consumers wanting to buy the new updated discs can confirm with new UPC code (UPC not available yet). No time frame was provided when I called but they are very aware of the problem. The PCM fix is only a temporary work around to the problem.

Yep!!! They should have just stayed with DTS-MA. There's been so many issues with TrueHD titles!!

So the Total Recall BD's on store shelves, will be replaced with newly remastered copies?
Wonder if there will be a sticker on them, "remastered audio", to let buyers know they're getting the corrected disk?

Got the same email from Sony that you did now with the instructions on returning the disc. Because both BD's in the set say 'feature film' or something, I loaded the movie into my player to make sure I was sending back the right disc. Weird thing is, I watched some of the problematic spots and it played fine this time...no audio dropouts at all letting my receiver decode the TrueHD track. I only played it for a minute or two... maybe it has to play for a while before the dropouts occur? I don't know... It was literally unwatchable the first time I tried to play it the dropouts were so bad. I haven't updated firmware or anything either; my setup is exactly as it was before.

Oh I'm still sending it back. This is my second copy too and when I tested the TrueHD track when I received this copy it dropped out in the same places as my first copy. I didn't have it very loud today either. Maybe I just didn't notice it. Again, I didn't play it for very long or 'inspect' it like I did upon receiving the replacement copy from Amazon.

Alrighty, I am now also participating in this exchange program, so Thank you nolfoc for all of your help in post #1. I emailed Sony and use the template, 3 days later, I get a reply from the rep and a 2nd email with a FedEX RMA # and Fedex instructions. I packed up the blu ray disc/case and handed it off to FedEX today. Wish me luck and hopefully within 5 weeks I get a replacement disc inside of a blu ray case with cover art (I kept the slipcover as I see numerous copies of this film being sold without slip and mine is in great condition)

grrrrrrrr, I hate having to send in my disc first. I remember a lot of people having issues with paramount when they did this, disc getting lost in the mail and people never getting theirs discs back etc.

Was I supposed to send back the disc itself with no case/artwork?
