It will probably never happen, but at this point you'd have to say the door is open, albeit just a little.
Well amazon have picked up quite a few of Play's steels so it seem's you may get your wish.

what i dont understand is why does amazon germany have so many exclusive steelbooks and the usa/uk amazons has none. amazon.com needs to step up for the american market so they dont have to import everything

Works for me! Prime 2-day shipping and not having to travel over the ocean sounds great IMO!

Don't even tease about that! That would be a total dream! For the time being AmazonUK is definitely a nice upgrade.

I wouldn't say "nice upgrade." That is highly insensitive to thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of British folks who are losing their jobs. I would say "convienient change for those of us on the other side of the pond" while also expressing sympathy for those unfortunate souls caught in the tornado that currently is the British retail economy.

United Kingdom "Farewell HMV UK & Play.gone!"

after three straight bent and dented steelbooks, received in thin cheap plastic "temporary" bags, i quit buying from HMV UK months ago. good riddance!

Play didn't want customers outside of Europe, they got their wish...

my recent receipt of the Future Shop "Looper" and Japan "Pulp Fiction" reminds me to go for quality, not quantity. i won't miss the cheap, single-disc, no inside cover art, Region B locked crap, that was flowing from the isles.

No Steelbook is worth the loss of so many jobs, IMO, especially not in this climate.

They are a victim of the British Tax system, a 20%VAT Tax, multiple industry taxes to locate in Britain all play a big part of this. You can only raise prices so much before you become extinct. Its looking like grocery stores are the only thing left, You can grab some horsemeat and a blu-ray for the road!

The domino effect has started. We will be lucky to get 10% of the steelbooks we got last year. Which for some is a good thing.

I have other hobbies so it doesn't worry me much, but I will say that Britain is in a crisis at the moment.

I use amazon because its convenient. I hate parking (£2+), walking in the cold, rain, snow and then finding nothing is in stock at the store. Tescos is alright but they only stock the top 10 and sometimes not even a Disney classic gets the blu treatment. They only have the DVD.

Totally agree with you about quality over quantity. Just wish I was a US resident myself. Would then not have to worry about the quantity of steelbooks available, thus saving myself some coin in the process ;-)
Living in the UK, I have no problems watching Region A locked crap, multiregion players baby. The future I tell you.

I'm more concerned about the crappy eco packaging that they use in U.S. amarays, which don't protect the discs at all. Good thing the rest of the world did not follow the U.S. eco packaging.
