Well since I started this forum I should tell about my buying habits. Well I got a Blu-Ray playing a few years ago for a birthday present, but didnt have more than 50 last April when I started to get serious, so I figure I will have close to 500 by years end. Of the 264 blu-rays in my collection only about 10% are unwatched and I try to watch at least 2-3 of those per week.

As for storage, I'm lucky I still have the shelving from my VHS anime days. I have 2 33" wide, 5 rows shelves. 1 33" wide 4 row unit, and a small 25' 4 row unit. I'm getting ready to move to a smaller house as there are 4 of us instead of 6, so my new Daddy's room will be outside in a shed. I had my blus in a 5 shelf, my non anime dvds in another 5 shelf, and my anime dvds in the remaining 2 shelves.

Since I will be outside in my man-cave, I decided to put the kids/wife DVD in the small DVD case, and it will be inside the house. I had an unforeseen expense last month so quite a few of my blus are in pawn, so atm I dont have to worry about storing them. Right now my remaining blu-rays, anime dvds, and the 75 or so remaining dvds i have(Mostly British stuff like Dr Who and Monty Python) I have in the two 5 row shelves(of course they aren't mixed, blu-rays first then dvds). The 4 shelf rack I have full of paper back books as my new house doesn't have a built in bookcase in the spare bedroom. I'm almost full in these 2 racks, and as i get my blus out of hock it will cause a problem because I will run out of room. The 2 racks I bought at Suncoast before they closed the store here 5-6 years ago, and the nearest store is 50+ miles away, and I would like match cases. hate to drive up there and they no longer have my case. Trying to find something on Amazon especially when I haven't a clue what the name of these racks are will be a problem. If it's a different color i guess I can put it the middle and have a contrast.

I will hit 1000 very soon; I do watch every movie I buy (well, almost every - I've probably got around 20 I haven't got around to yet). I am a horror/slasher movie fanatic and I have a huge 6' tall bookcase in a spare bedroom that is full of nothing but horror/slasher/supernatural blu-ray movies. I have two other dvd bookcases in the same spare bedroom - one contains my Italian giallo and foreign dvds along with the few American dvds I still own; the other contains my Criterion dvds along with my horror/slasher dvds.
In the front room is a very large BD case against a wall with my Criterion blu-ray separated from the rest of my regular blu-rays.
Oh, and in a second bedroom I have another bookcase with about 150-200 blu-rays that I've run out of space for. I have sold many BDs that I knew I would never watch again - but never from my horror collection. That's my pride and joy.

I really need to add to my anime blu-ray, but they are so expensive. Then again I probably spend 25% of what I did 5-10 years ago on anime. At one time anime use to come out 4-5 episodes per dvd, and would come with a pretty box. You would spend 120-150 bucks on the set, but there was an excitement getting that dvd every 6 weeks. Now they come out in whole season box sets for 60 bucks if you are lucky, or they break them into 13 episodes boxes for 45 bucks. right now for anime I mostly buy older anime for 3-4 bucks a disc from amazon.

I am a huge film buff. Work in the industry and all. I only buy titles I want and my blind buys are very well educated ones. I will be to 1000 soon.

My 2 biggest problems right now are 1.) needing to build about 9 or 10 6' Floating shelves to hold all my movies. Storage is currently a huge problem.

2.) Finding time to catch up on watching them all.

Doing my best.

Once I buy this new rack I think I will be okay. I would love one just like the one I got from Suncoast, but it's been at least 7 years since I bought the 2 I have and just hate to drive 50 miles, and they no longer sell them. The new room I'm moving my stuff into while a little smaller won't have as many doorways.

You can always be creative with racks and space so you can have all of your media together especially if you can't afford custom racks or not good at building them.

Love your avatar; I've got to make time to watch that again. La Belle Noiseuse is an overlooked masterpiece (IMO).

I love movies... simple as that... I know there are some titles in my collection that I will NOT keep, but seeing as I got most of them for $1 from BBV closings and that I will get more than $1 in trade in for them, I am not concerned...

My total is still a little low as I havent finished going through ALl my titles, but this number does represent most of them... I couldnt believe I had reached 1100 plus

According to my records and my DVD Profiler is a little outdated, it is showing online as 3547 this is DVD & Blu, but blu-ray.com shows me currently at 1003 , my wife gives me crap because when I started in 2008, I told her I was only upgrading movies that I felt deserved it. Darn these movie stores going out of business and FYE trade-ins.

Definitely.

I don't collect blu-rays (yet), but I've been collecting "vintage" or otherwise collectible/desirable music CDs for a few years. My collection is coming up on 3,000. Some are for listening and some will never be played but fit into a particular part of the whole.

I'm not nearly as passionate about blu-ray, but I can understand it. I have around 100 so far and I'm sure I'll end up adding a good number this year. The vast majority will be films that interest me, but I could see picking up steelbooks and the like simply to have.

I will shelve the blu-rays by packaging style or series (Disney, Criterion), etc, but the actual discs will be stored in protective sleeves and then within a binder(s) for easy access. I like to quickly flip through them and pull out what I want.
