I tried this last night with a DVD to HD and it worked great! Problem is I've already converted almost all of my blu-rays that were compatible, so I don't think I have anymore of those to convert. But I still have some remaining DVD's. Hopefully they'll keep expanding the compatibility list!

I was very pleased to get the email last night, as I could never find time to get to wal mart. I got HDX copies of Slither and NOTLD '90, with VUDU credit I had. Is there any confirmation that it reads DVD's from blu ray combos as from Blu Ray and only charging 2 for HDX?

I saw someone else mention that DVD's from blu-ray combos read as being from blu-ray, but have not tested it. I won't be able to personally test that until more titles become available though...

The part about the combo discs recognized as blu is GREAT.

Still,.... I still have no need or use for vudu. But,.. I guess I'm becoming interested in it anyway.

Unfortunatley Open Range is still not available either, would love a Blu or HDX of this film.

Getting the DVD from a BD release to be recognized as the BD was hit or miss for me

Worked:

Citizen Kane DVD from Blu-ray Digibook (Batte over Citizen Kane disc)
Patton Remastered Special Features DVD

Didn't:

Special Features DVD from Dr Zhivago digibook
Ghostbusters DVD copy (it didn't even recognize the disc)
Hugo DVD copy

i wounder what they are going to do to stop ppl from renting it then adding it hope nothing but it already takes just a few months b4 u can add newer to D2D maybe it will start taking even longer if it gets out of hand

Rental discs often have different identifiers (although not always). If it is different, the Vudu software will be able to read that.

It would be awesome if a DVD-ROM drive could read the BD info. I don't have a BD drive in my PC and doubt I'll get one anytime soon. Hopefully they add support in future for BD players.

Different versions of discs can be uniquely identified, so if they wanted to, they could block rental-only variations. That said, there seems to be problems with discs being recognized as wrong versions (ie, theatrical instead of director's cut), or entirely wrong titles

That blame ultimately goes to GraceNote for having the discs matched improperly.

Had success using the DVD from the Combos for Inception and Kick Ass to get HDX for $2 each. Still Psyched I have HD NOLTD '90 and Slither

I downloaded this software and converted one DVD to HDX. But the problem is I didn't receive the email to try this service until after I had converted. So, my question is, was it strictly for people to received invitation via email or not?

I didn't get the e mail, I just followed the link someone posted. I've done a dozen or so titles with no problem already.

I did 104 movies total. For the most part it was smooth and easy, just time consuming. Here are some things I noticed.

It has accepted rentals from Hollywood Video, BB, Gohastings and 1 unknown source.

A couple of movies did not recognize the actual movie.

Converted into HDX, but only viewable at SD on the PC.

Most of my box sets were not recognized.

A couple of movies converted to HDX even though the actual disc was a DVD/DC.

Ask me if you want more details. This is just the short version.

You can only convert what they have on ultraviolet, my James Bond dvds weren't supported.

Got Blade Runner from the Digibook that did not come with UV. Could not get Casiono Royale or QofS from the Bond 50 set to work (Both were reported as Dr No!), or the Casino Royale 2006 2 Disc set to work

, or LotR EE (It told me I already have it when in fact I have LotR (Theartical)

Can we get a master list of which blu's work
