Definately. Goldeneye and Casino Royale are my favourite Bond films with From Russia With Love and Goldfinger just behind.

I still do think Connery as a whole is the best though.

WOW!! You may be the only one on the planet with this opinion. Either that or your just one of those poeple that would argue the sky isn't blu (figure of spech, no science lesson neccesary) just to stir up some attention.

While Skyfall was a fun film, thanks to it's many homages and throwbacks to the franchise, it's no match to Casino Royale.

Terrence Young - Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Thunderball

Guy Hamilton - Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever, Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun

Lewis Gilbert - You Only Live Twice, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker

John Glen - For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View to a Kill, Living Daylights, License to Kill
What I meant was that none of those directors have become synonymous with the franchise - it's not Guy Hamilton's Bond as much as it shouldn't become Sam Mendes' Bond, which it would if he made another (not that Bond would become exclusively about the director, but that it would be heavily marketed towards the man who made "Skyfall").

The films after Goldeneye weakened, but that was more down to weak scripts and poor choices rather than directorial problems. Bond went from Brosnan's first super suave spy to an almost parody of himself because it got so damn silly.

I agree, I just want him to be regular Bond in the next movie. He has the gadgets, he has the car, Q, Moneypenny, just GO!

I agree to an extent but I wouldn't call it stupid. A Dark Knight clone, it was, with a touch of Home Alone in the third act but I wouldn't call it stupid.

I want Martin Campbell to only direct the Bond films introducing a new actor. He's really good at that.

Sam Mendes would be a fine choice for Bond 24 but I'd be more interested in seeing another director (NOT Christopher Nolan) tackle it.

Shirley Bassey needs to return for the theme song.

I think the next one will be full-on classic Bond as all the elements are in place, given the ending of Skyfall.

You might already be aware of this, but she recorded a song for Quantum of Solace. Of course, the powers that be chose the phenomenal Jack White/Alicia Keys collaboration, otherwise known as the greatest Bond song of all time.

I'm going to try not to freak out over this because I've never heard of it before. Where can I listen to her song?

This is kind of a "trolling" response.

But a lot of people saw this article.

It is fun to be the first poster of a film to be released.

This thread is all speculation from a few comments by Mendes.

This my last post on a BOND 24 until an official announcement.

I'll still play future bond and future plot line scenarios

To be fair, Skyfall was awesome until Javier Bardem showed up. As I said in another forum, the actual character was rather lame considering all the buildup until his first appearance. I also didn't care for his unbelieveably perfectly-timed plans that accounted for any possible random occurence and would make Jigsaw (or Anson from Burn Notice) green with envy.

Still, as I said before, I really enjoyed the earlier portions of the film (Bond's newfound immortality notwithstanding).

Agreed. Although he may have burned a lot of bridges with the underwhelming (but still watchable) Green Lantern.

And the best Bond film is still From Russia With Love.

That's not true. "No Good ABout Goodbye" was a song David Arnold wrote for Shirley Bassey using a cue from his QOS score as a starting point. But, sadly, it was never intended as the theme track. Also, he wrote the actual song after he completed his work on QOS. Arnold explained that in an interview that may still be online somewhere (can't remember where I read it).

I'm game to see Sam Mendes to return to the franchise, even though I love to see what different directors do with the franchise. I'd love to see someone like Phillip Noyce get the chance to direct it. I'd definitely love to see Martin Campbell return to do another film eventually as well.

I didn't mind the "Home Alone" stuff at all. In fact, I loved that whole final act. It's how they got their that annoyed me. Silva's plan relied on a lot of things to happen that weren't necessarily likely to (that perfectly timed and placed train?) and the fact his plan was put into motion by an apparent genius making a schoolboy error was a bit infuriating. I loved the new Q but then thought he was a ****ing idiot within a couple of scenes of meeting him

Then there was the fact that he was trying to ruin M and then trying to kill her. In my opinion he should have done one or the other. By ruining her in a public enquiry and discrediting her he would have done incredible damage to her as a public figure and a person. I think killing her in that enquiry would have resulted in a complete 180 as to how people were seeing her. People would forget the enquiry and she would be well remembered. She would be another person who gave their life in the name of pursuing national security. The "ruining" of her reputation and the idea of killing her seemed to work against each other.

And then, and these aren't really problems with the film rather than things I didn't personally enjoy. The women felt forced into the plot, or at least their romances with Bond were. We were introduced to a Bond girl who didn't even really get to interact with Silva despite them setting up what sounded like a pretty interesting relationship. I'd love to have seen them interact more. I know it was necessary for the plot to off her but then why introduce her? And she didn't need to sleep with Bond. I know that's what Bond does but it didn't really feel earned in this one. Same goes for Moneypenny.

And the music was poor. Seriously, how does someone get a Bond score wrong?

As I said though, there's good dialogue, good performances and some of the most beautifully shot, stunning and blood-pumping action sequences ever seen in a Bond film so I do still really enjoy the film. It's just, as with most of last year's big blockbusters, there were things that stopped me from being able to love it and defend it as a great blockbuster. Once the credits start to roll and the lights come up, you collect your thoughts and go "well that didn't really work did it?".

In Skyfall almost nothing make sense. Silva's plan is beyond stupid, Bond plan to take him down is even more stupid and old guy with the flashlight is EVEN more stupid.

I won't even waste my time to describe whole stupidity of that movie. Instead, just read this:
http://movieplotholes.com/skyfall.html
http://kristenstewartwantsit.wordpre...yfall-edition/

watch this:

If Mendes is directing, I dont give a damn anymore.

This thread isn't about how much some of you despise Skyfall, btw. I know pointing out its flaws makes your dicks hard but stick to the topic at hand, please.

Ok. So i hope Mendes will not direct this, and they will write a better script, cause I'd like to get another good Bond movie for a change. Thanks.

I'll happily join his 'minority' - I thought that Skyfall was awful (in terms of script AND direction), and not a patch on the excellent Casino Royale; now THAT is what I call a Bond film.

Now that you got that out of your system (next time try Ex-Lax), why not tell us what you think Bond 24 should be like instead of furthering a derail?

I love Skyfall and they are really reaching for stuff in that particular Honest Trailers clip, but "Sexy Voldemort" is really funny.
