ESC do, but I don't think it would be worth it due to the expensive shipping:

Get it from Amazon.fr. BTW, I know that Jesse at Diabolik is aware of this title...

I just noticed that someone has added actor Neil Clifford as "The Karate Killer" at IMDb. There's been many rumours over the years about the identity of the actor who plays the role of the killer in Fear City, and one of those claims that its Neil Clifford who many remember by he's role of "Fallon" from Class of 1984. Sure it's easy to say that there's some real similarities the way Clifford look especially in Class of 1984, but is the actor who plays the killer in Fear City in FACT Neill Clifford? The question still bothers many fans of the film, and I'm one of them. Also it's been said that the role of the killer is actually played by the actor John Foster who's been credited as Pazzo. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the information. I'll keep tabs on Diabolik for a while and see if they get it, if not, I'll go the Amazon.fr route.

New master. UNCUT european version, 100% in HD. Region free, and removable subtitles.

I will be happy to get rid of another Shout blu.
Any chance Arrow might get this for the Uk since they've done a few Abel Ferrara's now?

Ok, just a quick update: Just tried ordering this directly from Amazon.fr and it told me their was an issue with the address. Although I can't read French very well, I've seen the error before on other Amazon sites and it basically means it won't ship to the US.

With that in mind, hopefully Diabolik or another third-party seller that will ship to North America will get this in.

If you manage to order that release for yourself, I personally would be a greatful if you would let us know about the status of PQ, especially with those unrated inserts. I've been vaiting years for decent release from the uncut version.

From the French forum:

It's basically the Shout edition, so you get glaring lower quality inserts for the uncut version. I quickly checked between the two editions and they look to be from the same master. region 2 locked. Forced subs on the uncut. Didn't bother to to check the cut version.

I bought this film a second time on blu for nothing.

These guys are real lying scum.

Any chance of Shout re-releasing this as a Steelbook like many other early titles?

Doubtful, all the steels have been of mass release titles, none for any of the site exclusives.

But, for site exclusives they did recently re-print 1000 more copies of Deathstalker 1&2 double feature, so that could be a possibility. Depends on if they still have the rights I would guess. On the dark side of that, DS is the only one to get re-issued so far...

Oh ok, I wasn`t aware it was a site exclusive
Reason more to mass release it
Then again, it`s been 8 years since the initial release, so rights
could be an issue

100%...I was late to the "grab every Abel Ferrara film on Blu-Ray" game and missed out on this and Ms. 45. I've watched both multiple times on streaming, but I'd obviously much prefer the discs.

The top menu trick works on the French release, but it does have forced French subtitles when the English language track is enabled. So still not perfect.

[Show spoiler]
Can you start the movie with it in French, then switch audio to English without the subs popping up? Used to work on French dvds for me. But my old player did shit like let me change audio while watching, skip intros/trailers, all that stuff that was disabled on other players. Shit doesn't work on my new(er) RF players.
Worth a try if you haven't already.

The Shout disc is only $199.95 on Amazon!

Didn't try that. My player let's you adjust the subtitle position, so I just shifted them down off the screen. But most players don't have that feature I think. If I think about it tomorrow evening I'll check this, but no promises that I'll actually remember.

I'm a little late here but I finally remembered to check this. The forced subs are only an issue on the uncut version with very low quality uncut inserts. This version only has an English language track on the disc, so there's no starting it in French and switching to English with the remote trick.

The theatrical version will play fine in English with no subs with no tricks needed.

That's messed up there's no French track for the uncut, on a French disc. I'll never understand the French. At least you can move out of the screen, just as good in the end.
