Scored it during Black Friday myself, so will be holding off for similar with this season.

Default Carver's 8th season

I liked but did not love S8, had high hopes for Jeremy Carver returning as show runner. He was one of their strongest writers, but ended up only writing the season opener and finale. Certainly more cohesive and compelling than S7 (where Dean's character was written all over the place) but still the best years were S2-5. Sadly, SPN will also lose Ben Edlund in S9.

I think S6 was by far the worst, I actually really enjoyed S7, but S8 was all over the place. The main arc episodes were great, but the monster of the week episodes were too many and too boring. The main arc needed 2-3 more episodes to flesh out and it would have been much more satisfying - ending felt really rushed and I would have liked more men of letters backstory. Plus the whole Amelia subplot was pointless

My absolute all time favorite tv show. I can't tell you how many times I've rewatched each episode. Unfortunately, I'm going to wait till Black Friday to get this. Last year, it dropped to $16.99 for the latest season. I can't wait to see the price for season 8 this black friday.

Really?@!!? I loved S8. I'm excited for the show and it's much better storylines.

I also think that the seasons 1-4 are the best. In my opinion you can really feel the lower budget in later seasons and it clashes with the aspirations of the writers. For example somehow it feels a bit comical if an archangel and the devil himself fight like kindergarten children on some generic field.

Same goes for season 7: To me the Leviathans never felt like a threat to the whole world but more like some tiny street gang. They just did not have the budget to make it feel really epic.

If you don't have the money for big effects and crowds of actors stick to more personal storylines and threats. This way Supernatural could shine again.

I did not think Season 5, 6 or 7 were bad. But they just did not have that "special magic" the earlier seasons all had. It is still a good series but after season 10 they should really call it a day.

Apart from the very disappointing final battle against Lucifer, I thought season 5 was incredible. When season 6 came around, I found it almost unwatchable. It was just really bad. Supernatural used to be my favorite show on TV for the first 5 seasons but seasons 6, 7, and 8 haven't been the same. I don't even keep up with the show anymore the way I used to.

Don't know if this is the right place, but...

Quick question: The UK releases of the show are all identical to the US releases, and region-free, right? Or are there differences between them?

Edit: Basically, I'm asking if I can just get the UK season 1-7 set and have everything, instead of getting the US ones (buying the UK set only comes out to about $75)

Supernatural is a good show. Just wish it would not be so political.

That's one of my top disappointments. It's sad that you can actually see the VFX get worse season by season after season 5. I still haven't seen any of season 8, can anyone comment on it's VFX? Do they get any better, or do they keep getting worse?

Better hurry up I recently picked up all 7 seasons and watched them all in about a month, averaging about 4 ep/day! It's a great show that only gets better! Good thing the 8th season comes out not too long from now!

Just saw a tv spot for the blu/dvd on FX. I don't think I've ever seen a commercial for a tv show on blu-ray
