Apparently HMV.jp are usually cheaper than Amazon (for shipping), it doesn't seem to be an Amazon exclusive, so it's possible that it may become available at HMVjp soon

For me in the U.S., this would come out 56.99 including shipping.

Does HMV.jp ship to the US? If so I should see if they have The Goonies to try and get that cheaper.

Dredd is now available to order from HMV JP (however I'm not sure if it's the steelbook?)

If you order more than 1 you get 26% off, making them ¥3,899 each (not incl' shipping)

shipping appears to be ¥1,500 to the UK

Total for 2 would be ~£63 + customs fees (which I think is ~£10 +VAT?) :/

That's only a few £ less than ordering two from Amazon.jp . Also it is hard to tell if it's a steelbook on the HMV.jp page as you said

No chance. Its EIV in the UK which basically means no steelbook or slipcover or anything special at all

Get the French metalpak or 2D release - the 2D disc is the best PQ anyway and will be better than this Japanese release.

The Japan steel-book is a 2D blu-ray as well.

Does it say anywhere that its 2D only? Isn't it more likely to be 2D and 3D on one disc? If you run the page through Google translate it becomes both baffling and funny but one phrase is "3 challenge to 3D".

There's no 3D printed on the cover of the steelbook: it has the DREDD title and JUDGE DREDD written in Japanese beneath it. There's no 3D mentioned in the main heading at the top of the amazon page-listing - it just reads: Judge Dredd [Specification Steel Book Limited Edition] [Blu-ray].

There's also no blu-ray 3D icon on the amazon page, an image that usually appears on the pages of other blu-ray3D releases on amazon Japan:

http://www.amazon.co.jp/Dredd-Blu-ra...keywords=dredd

It displays this instead:

http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00C58P8NY

I can't find 3D listed anywhere for the actual disc by amazon on that page.

The only reference to 3D is in the list of featurette-extras in the product description: Challenge to 3D (2 minutes) - or The 3rd Dimension - which is one of the featurettes ported over from the international release, but all 3D centred feturettes were also on the DVD releases which were discs that had no 3D either so no, by all indications, this is not a 3D blu-ray.

Strange that a film shot in 3D (and released theatrically that way in Japan) should only have a 2D release, is there any other country where Dredd has been issued that way? I wonder how reliable the Amazon specs are.

This is not the mainstream Japanese release; it's a limited edition of 3890 units.

Which raises the question of a mass market edition and the possibility that it could hypothetically be better value than the steelbook by including the 3D, which would be peculiar.

Couldn't resist and preordered this. The Dredd Steelie will be my first Amazon.jp purchase.

Agree. Really like the flick and don't have a Japanese Steelbook to date so I took the plunge and ordered two to make shipping less painful.

Fantastic looking Steelbook. A shame it doesn't include the 3D version of the movie, otherwise I'd definitely buy a copy.
