I keep my TV seasons on one of the short 4 level fat ones.

It has lasted around 15 years and works great even without the back.

It is tall but if you have an Ikea near you mine had them out on display gave me a good idea of the size and it fits nicely in the corner of my room

Yeah the nearest one from me is about 40 miles away. I'm going to have to make a trip this weekend.

They really aren't. They have some with deeper shelves I believe, but I got ones that are shallow and fit media well. I think at most I might have less that a couple of inches before then end of the shelf. Which looks fantastic!

You can get other billy bookcases with deeper shelves, which I don't recommend, (Please note that these are not recommended for media, but better for books):

Yeah, I had to pull that picture as it wasn't a billy bookcase. The picture that is up is more accurate. So there is a bit of space in fact. But once they are all in there it honestly doesn't look like that much space in person. They do in fact have even deeper billy cases, but those are impractical for media obviously.

I found out that if you lay a bluray case behind the BDs, they function as a stopper perfectly to the outer edge of the shelf.

I done this with four DVD cases going across the shelf and you can see from the picture I put up it brings the Blu Ray's right out to the edge

Thats what kept me from buying a Billy at first. Then one day I was looking at vids on youtube and I saw someone using those charcoal foam inserts in the back of their dvd shelves. Since then I've purchased a Billy and some foam inserts and it looks perfect.
