I never really minded how 2 was more linear than the rest, I feel that made it feel more unique among the other films in the series. Which is a strength of each entry really, each movie is it's own special being.

Darn. I was hoping no one made that quip. But I'm late to the party.

But yes, none of the above. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm for the win!

I sort of regret making this a poll, I'd like to see more discussion about the series and more fans ranking them all. I hope we get some information on 5's release, it's said to be out this year.

Read about the 4K restoration the original is getting, can't wait to see it. Hope the rest of the series gets the 4K treatment as well.

Having seen Ravager:

2
1
4
3
5

While I got some enjoyment from 5 I sadly have to agree with those rating it as the weakest.

Having just watched them all in order, this is my top favorites, from most to least.
1. Phantasm
2. Phantasm IV: Oblivion (dreamy like the 1st, but more sci fi-ish)
3. Phantasm II (great one, but too bad they replaced Michael, though)
4. Phantasm V: Ravager (good flick, but not the best or most concise ending. Didn't have the true Coscarelli "feel," either).
5. Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead (is the weakest, IMO)

Just watched Ravager tonight, and I was into it ... until the ending, that is.

R.I.P. Angus Scrimm.

Now that Ravager has been viewed (thanks to a region free US blu-ray):

1 - Phantasm
2 - Phantasm IV: Oblivion
3 - Phantasm II
4 - Phantasm Ravager
5 - Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead

I like them all...

Ravager has grown on me a little since I last watched it but it's still firmly at the bottom of my list. Just way too cheap and ends the series in such an unsatifying way.

easily one of the best and most underrated horror series of all time. (especially 1+2)

phantasm how do I love thee, let me count the ways.

part 1, you came along the year I was born and have since given me countless thoughts and memories of graveyards and funeral homes and that army of the dead made into dwarf slaves. and of course the tall man. what's not to love? I get a smile on my face just thinking about phantasm.

you play a good game boy... but now the game is finished, now you die!

Phantasm (by a long shot, one of the all time great horror movies)
Phantasm 2
Phantasm 4
Phantasm 3
Phantasm 5

So happy to have this beautiful box set loaded with so much extra stuff it's going to take me a while to finish it. The book is great btw and the Phantasm Remastered poster that came with the box set I bought last year and had Don Coscarelli autograph it along with the original Phantasm 1 cover. A great set to add to my Blu Ray collection.

Still feel this way, except it's even worse after a rewatch. Ugh, such a bad way to end the series. Worse so after 18 long years of waiting. Not sure I'd want a sixth film with Angus' passing and no way in Hell would I want a holographic version of him used in another film.

I wonder if I'm alone in preferring James LeGros as the grown-up Mike in 2. For me he was a big reason 2 was so good.

First one's first. Then the rest in whatever order- they're all equally bad.
