I will really blow your mind. In one of the threads, there were people ADVOCATING that the consumer donate and fund the studios for their production of bonus material for the Blu-Ray releases. Needless to say I was stunned.

FOUND IT!

Not gonna embarrass the person or call them out by name, but here was their post:

I would love to see a studio try to get consumers to fund the creation of supplements... especially for a set with a $120 MSRP.

That doesn't say that you'll get the DC on VUDU like I hoped it would. I'll probably still do it, because most of the time I more likely to watch special features if I have them on VUDU because I can access them when I have a few minutes of downtime. Anyway, cool stuff.

I think you might get the DC on Vudu, it doesn't mention it anywhere on the case though. When I redeemed my code today it showed all the stated special features and also Ironman 3 with an available date of 12/1. I was surprised to see that and thought I'd pass that along to anyone on the fence about getting the pre-order.

I was at Walmart this morning, saw this set up. Interesting to note though there were AT LEAST 8 Iron Man 2 Blurays all of which had perfect condition slipcovers. I don't know if this was a re-issue or if my store just had them in the back(because the IronMan 2 Blurays that were on shelves before this didn't have the cover.)

I bought mine on Thursday at a store I don't usually go to but they were just kind of thrown out. I didn't see the big display like pictured in this thread. The site to redeem it just went live today. I did forget to mention some of the special features say they aren't available until 4/30.

12/1? That is a very long wait for a movie that will just be coming out in the spring of the year. I would hope that the Bluray would be out by august or september at the earliest. Since they aren't offering the 3D version in the pre-purchase deal I will wait & pre-order the movie later when I can get everything in 1 set.

I am guessing 12/1 is just have a date in there so people know they are getting the movie. Like I said the site just went live sometime this morning and the movie isn't even in theaters yet. Pretty safe to guess the 12/1 is just a date they made up, even the case says the blu-ray comes out this fall. Vudu probably just didn't want to screw up and pick a date that would end being too soon. I do agree though it sucks they don't offer the 3D versions for pre-order ever. I would rather pre-order the 3D version as well, same as when they did the Hobbit pre-orders.

Definitely a placeholder for the actual release date. I'd expect a release date somewhere in September. Thor, Iron Man 1&2 and The Avengers were released theatrically in the first week of May and all came out in September.

What if Wal-Mart had a different store exclusive for when the actual movie came out on bluray would that be the version that you would be sent in the mail or would you still have to buy the movie again to get the exclusive version?

Is it the first time such a pre-purchase box set has been available? I know of pre-purchase steelbooks, but that seems to be the first time they sell some empty Amaray for "virtual" downloadable content.

No, Walmart has been doing it for the last 6 months of so. Though those usually include just the digital movie. Right now even, they also have GI Joe: Retaliation, and Jack Reacher ones.

25 bucks for a bunch of extra features? That's weak. I guess Disney didn't want to allow VUDU to offer a digital copy of any of the Marvel movies.

Well, they know that these movies remain popular and can still charge a premium for them. Thor and Captain America's MSRPs (for both the 2D and 3D combo packs) have not changed since they were released.

It'll be cheaper than 25 bucks the week of its release. Shoot, the 3D version may be available for less than that. I'm just saying that if Wal-Mart wants to entice people to preorder the 2D version at that price, they need to offer more than just featurettes.

I posted just a few posts up that it appears I did get Ironman 3 added to my Vudu account. I am sure it won't be a UV copy but it is showing up in my Vudu right now with a 12/1 available date, which I am sure will change once IM3 has a release date.

Usually you get the WM exclusive but not always. For the versions that have had a WM exclusive, MiB3, Spider-man, Django, Justified S3 all come to mind, I got the WM exclusive sent to me. Honestly I think the only one I didn't get was Game of Thrones S2. So I would say there is a good chance that if WM has an exclusive you would get that sent to you.

That's why I stopped preordering. One of the major retailers will have an aggressive price point or an awesome exclusive. Why would I pay $25 for something that's not even finalized?
