I wonder if the rights have simply lapsed on these titles? There's no mention of them on the news blurb anywhere (not even a generic "Coming Soon!"), and most of the contracts for films still owned by foreign licensors only last 5-7 years without an expensive renewal.

Glad Grindhouse is finally embracing Blu-ray, but if they're going to be skipping the horror titles I was interested in, I'm going to be pretty bummed.

The blurb at the bottom of the Facebook post states all of their holdings will eventually be released on Blu-ray. I fully expect to see BEYOND, PIECES, CANNIBALS HOLOCAUST and FEROX and everything else they have rights to. Might take some time but it seems they are coming.

Someone asked about Cannibal Holocaust on their FB page a few weeks ago, and they answered it was definitely coming to BD. So it seems they at least still have the rights to that one.

What's so great about the Swimmer? I freely admit, I had never even heard about that one before.

Nice. Genre news has been lacking lately, so this helps feel that void nicely. Looking forward to finally getting Scum of the Earth.

According to Murawski, the company's entire back catalog will also appear in new Blu-ray editions soon thereafter.
Hopefully we get titles like CH and Pieces, but I'm thrilled just to see GR back

As for Cannibal Holocaust there's the UK Blu-Ray release by Shameless, it's fully uncut except for the coatimundi scene and the picture and audio quality is amazing. I'm still probably getting the US release since it's one of my favorite films (Not for the animal scenes, it's just one of the best horror films ever made and one of the most influential ones )

Totally agree.

I ended up in a bit of a discussion with someone here last year because I had the audacity to call Cannibal Holocaust 'a masterpiece'. I still think it is, though.

Since Grindhouse has apparently made a deal with SONY maybe they'll acquire Piranha II - it's right up their alley. I don't care if everybody hates the movie, I think it's great. Nice soundtrack, too.

Me too (to say the least)

And the french blu-ray (which is uncut) is equally hideous.

Hopefully GR gives Cannibal Holocaust a beautiful Blu-ray because as others have mentioned, it is a masterpiece.

I agree about the Shameless bd of Cannibal holocaust, if you look closely you can see the background is covered in pixelation.

Bob Murawski has posted the following comment on other forum:

Our upcoming Blu-ray re-release of PIECES is being mastered from 4K scans of the original camera negative. The work was done by Deluxe Lab in Madrid. Nothing but the best for a classic like PIECES. In addition, our upcoming release of THE SWIMMER was also scanned at 4K. Both coming to Blu-Ray soon.

Unbelievable news regarding PIECES - thanks for posting! Never thought I'd see the day this film would receive such royal treatment.

The Big Gundown will be released in October and will include both the English and Italian language versions of the movie.
