Agreed. And Brooklyn Nine Nine but they have decent scores on RT.

Was this any good? The premise seems really really dumb.

I thought it was pretty awesome. Spader was great and I liked the action. The kidnapping sequence was really well done. Good job by Joe Carnahan directing the Pilot.

Megan Boone was okay. Considering this is her 1st big starring role, I think she has room to grow. As long as Spader is on the show, it will be fine.

One word of warning, don't watch the 4 1/2 minute trailer from the NBC upfronts. Gives away pretty much every big plot point of the Pilot.

I'm surprised that they didn't say right off the bat that they tested her DNA and her husband's DNA against Reddington's. Because that would take care of one obvious question right off the bat.

Of course, the pretty quickly narrowed that down by 50%.

Yeah, you would think that would be the first thing they would do, but then again that twist so to speak would be too easy.

I like the premiere, it was good a few turns that I didn't see coming and Spader owned every scene he was in...

Very solid pilot. I agree about the lead actress needing a bit more acting lessons but she wasn't horrible or anything. She has room to grow, so hopefully she learns quickly though. It could be come a problem in the future. But overall, it was pretty eventful and fun.

I enjoyed it, and will be watching next week. I got a little Hannibal and Clarice vibe during some of the interactions between Reddington, and Megan.

Exactly, felt very much like Hannibal and Clarice, with a little of the Following thrown in as well.

Hasn't aired on the West coast yet, looking forward to it.

Also, I believe it's for the most part episodic with some character and story arcs. That's how Sony was able to sell this show into so many international markets. Heavily serialized shows aren't attractive to overseas markets.

Thanks. Well it's off my list then.

1. Identify a bad guy
2. Hunt the bad guy
3. Catch the bad guy
4. Interrogate the bad guy
5. Prosecute the bad guy

Repeat, repeat, repeat. Spader is usually awesome, but that formula just doesnt work for me.

I didn't lke it. Not sure I'll give it one more chance. Haven't watched "Hostages" yet.

From the opening scene when the husband tells Elizabeth that they were sleeping 7 minutes ago, it irked me. No way she could wash her hair and blow dry it in 7 minutes.

I liked Hostages more. Too bad that bombed in the ratings.
The lead actress is absolutely awful in this but I'll give it a few more episodes.

Great show. I'm hooked. Looking forward to next week's episode. I haven't gotten into any new shows in years. Also looking forward to Agents of SHIELD tonight.

It's a little like that steps 4 and 5 didn't happen at least not that way. It is a lot like Bones or Person of Interest though in that each week there will be something that needs solved. Though there are about 3 or 4 underlining story lines that will be dragged out over each season or the entire series.

Most likely she didn't wash it, most women don't fully wash their hair everyday, even if they take a shower.

She got the hair wet enough to have to put it in a turban though. She had to blow dry.

Obviously, the show didn't engage me enough if I'm fixated on her hair.

I did watch "Hostages" now and found it much more interesting, though it had a lot of cliches. The key for me is that Toni Collette is a great actress and we already see a steeliness in her which makes us curious how she will escape her dilemma.

On the other hand, the big moment of suspense in "The Blacklist" really wasn't for obvious reasons. I really expected to like this because I'm a Spader fan. I'm glad if it's a hit for him.

Seriously? Why did you assume he was being literal? To hell with the hair, there's no way they could've done all the things we were shown in seven minutes. He was obviously exaggerating for ironic effect.

Anyway...I'm getting the annoying feeling that this will be turning into The Following. With that show, James Purefoy was holding it all together with his amazing performance until the writing got too dumb for even him to save it. Replace James Purefoy with James Spader, and that's what this show is feeling like. Otherwise, it's just another random cop/thriller.

I could be wrong, and I'll stick with it for a few more episodes at least, but I'm prepared to bail.

I liked the pilot of The Blacklist. Spader was fantastic. But I can't get too excited for a "villain of the week" show. It's watchable if we get some serialized elements.

Hostages was decent. I thought the cast was cool but Toni Collette was miscast. I didn't like her character. I do like the idea of a shorter serialized season.

Neither show is must watch TV IMO. But I'll at least watch the next episode for each.

Tried the pilot last night. Made it 15 minutes in a shut it off. Just couldn't get into it. We have so many shows we watch already that we didn't want to have to try out a show for a while just to try to like it. Haven't watched Hostages yet.

Thumbs up The Blacklist

We enjoyed the pilot & will continue to watch more eps.!

[Show spoiler]Thought James Spader as Ex-government agent & one of the FBI's Most Wanted fugitives, Raymond "Red" Reddington will be a very interesting character, who brokers deals for criminals. & enjoyed Megan Boone as rookie FBI agent Elizabeth Keene, as well, one beautiful, tough gal! Also intrigued to see who Ryan Eggold as Tom Keen really is.

Going to try and catch this tomorrow at 9pm. It is one of the few new shows I was actually jazzed about. Unfortunately my son was a bear to get down that night and I missed it on Monday. Hoping next week goes better.
