Default Top 30 Science Fiction Films

Okay, sue me. I really tried to keep it down to only ten, but considering it's me ...well let's just say at least I kept it under 50!

1.) Blade Runner
2.) 2001: A Space Odyssey
3.) A Clockwork Orange
4.) Metropolis (Original - NOT Moroder)
5.) The Matrix
6.) Primer
7.) 12 Monkeys
8.) Avalon
9.) Inception
10.) Never Let Me Go
11.) The Terminator
12.) The Terminator 2: Judgment Day
13.) 1984 (for once ... NOT THE ORIGINAL)
14.) Alien (yeah scary, but first and foremost Sci-Fi)
15.) Aliens
16.) Alien 3
17.) E.T.: The Extra-terrestrial in his adventures on Earth
18.) The Thing (John Carpenter) (yeah scary, but first and foremost ...Sci-Fi)
19.) Serenity
20.) The Fly (Brundlefly! Insect Politics indeed!!!)
21.) Deathwatch
22.) The Day the Earth Stood Still
23.) Back to the Future (funny Sci-Fi, but Sci-Fi nonetheless!)
24.) Planet of the Apes (1968 - Moses on the beach pounding sand to one of the biggest screen twist endings ever! - thank you always Mr. Serling)
25.) Godzilla (The Real Original - Minus Raymond Burr)
26.) Ghost in the Shell
27.) Akira
28.) Gattaca
29.) That film based on the Michael Crichton novel about the amusement park that allows people to view and mix with the past, but then things go terribly wrong ... oh yeah "Westworld"
30.) Capricorn One

I don't think I could go so far as to say "one of the greatest films ever made", but most definitely it's under-appreciated. I can't figure out how people who say they LOVE Tarantino can't appreciate this film. Great characters, and greater dialogue! By God, halfway through that movie, I was rooting for Stuntman Mike! Man, those women were annoying.

anyone who says they love tarantino should love Death Proof it's one of his best films.
i've probably seen it more times than any other movie and i don't think the girls are annoying.
i love everything about it the characters, the dialogue, the music. it's a perfect film.

The thing that I think the OP is talking about when he says that sci-fi and horror are somewhat similar and not a stones throw away are that they have to dear with fear. Usually Sci-Fi films deal with a fear for the future because most Sci-Fi movies deal with a dystopian future in which all that we dreamed of has gone into ruin. Thus a fear for a fallen society. In horror movies, fear is much more in your face with a type of conduit causing the fear. Although they are not the same they have some similarities.

I have to disagree.

If you want to include fantasy and other "speculative fiction" categories, then I can see the categorization. Otherwise, I can't see it.
