I would imagine the second would be LEX

Anything after that has to be one of DARKSEID or DOOMSDAY. I would prefer Doomsday if this ends in 3 films.

Was never into Doomsday -- the whole "death of Superman" cycle really left a bad taste in my mouth. Darkseid's not a favorite, either.

Brainiac and Lex (and kryptonite) seems to be the logical choice for the sequel.

I just feel that the importance of having a villian that just seems so unstoppable is the way to go. Makes you wonder throughout the film just how something can be killed. And DOOMSDAY is that character. And maybe he can be reborn in the justice league movie?

It would be cinematically impossible to JUST have Doomsday as only villain - he's nothing but a super-strong monster with no depth. To use him in a movie, he would have to be the "weapon" to some other main villain - sort of like those multiplying monsters in Hellboy.

How about Lex Luthor as a villain not in the traditional sense, but as someone who is against Superman and what Superman possibly represents. Luthor as the misguided protector of Earth and mankind, like The Illusive Man/Cerberus in Mass Effect. Metallo can be the bad guy, but Luthor is the one pulling his strings.

Since the chief complaints from critics regarding MoS seems to be too much action and not enough character development (in the emotional sense), I hope the sequel does a good job of building on a relationship between Lois and Superman.

I think he should face up against The Most Interesting Man In The World.

Superman movies should always have Zod and Luthor as the villains. No one else because as far as Hollywood is concerned, he has no other enemies!

id rather no lex luthor at all...the bumbling idiot in the films is so embarresing! it makes superman look stupid that he nearly gets defeated each time by a bald man who hires slapstick goons! the man is a fool.

do other villans no more lex luthor!!!

I hope the next film is titled "The Last Son of Krypton" with Braniac as the villain.

have to agree - probably Luthor as the next villian. I can't see them holding off that long on using him. Personally, I would like to see someone else and have Lex appear closer to the end on the movie to hatch his evil scheme while Superman is busy with the main villian - set up another movie. as for story, no idea.

I agree. Has to be Braniac. He's never been done in the movie. Could be so awesome if done right. They can have Luthor as a side villain, but he can never be the main villain again.

If the first film in this new rebooted franchise is as mediocre as the reviews are indicating it is, they might need to bring in someone else other than Zack Snyder and David Goyer. Superman deserves to be updated in the modern age with a film that is lauded as well as being a box office hit. Or at least bring a true screenwriter on board, and let David Goyer stick to coming up with the story.

I wonder if they was a directive to stay away from the Lois and Clark stuff. Wanting to distance itself from Returns, which was favorably reviewed, but didn't do enough box office. When it comes to movies like this for studios it's all about the $$$$$. They don't care if reviews are low. They want the general audience to eat it up. So we get mega action. I think we will get more Lois and clark in the next one. Being that the fist movie is always the hardest to get off the ground.

I think after a film like Man of Steel where the first villain is already a physical threat that the sequel needs someone that is more scheming and menacing intellectually to really top the villain of the first film. I think bringing in someone like Doomsday will just bring more of the same as what has already featured with Zod (destruction and fight scene wise). I'd like to see someone who can play mind games with Superman more and I think Brainiac seems a logical choice.
