I'm also looking forward to the child Bilbo/Gandalf scenes (though if they go into the middle of their meeting I can understand why they would be cut), more of Bilbo in the Shire before the Unexpected Party and extra of the goblin scribe who was a fantastically designed creature.

The forum on theonering.net has a list of deleted scenes from what's been said or seen so far, I imagine there'll be more though.

Day One. Hope there's a version without 3D though.

I think they will just do one bumper set with both versions rather than different sets.

I personally double dip cause i love the film (and LOTR) so much. If you don't want to do that then i suggest waiting and get the EE. If the LOTR EE's are anything to go by then you'll never watch the TE ever again!

Thanks for the reply

Although there is quite a difference between LOTR and The Hobbit...with LOTR you knew the additions were significant, while with The Hobbit it won't add (I don't think) much story-wise.
M original thought was to get the TE's now and get the EE down the road, when they come out as part of the ultimate complete LOTR Saruman approved edition with artwork personally burned in by Smaug...

I personally can't get enough of the hobbit and LOTR so an extended version is well welcome, will go for the rumoured steelbook from Amazon though

Will be getting this, especially for the appendices. Those documentaries were the best part of the LOTR extended editions and I'm looking forward to them here!

Some thoughts on these...

- 13 minutes is not a lot but I guess it should be expected, the movie was long as it was
- the packaging pales in comparison to the Extended DVD trilogy (I hope that the insides are similar though)
- 2D artwork is better than 3D
- the bonus features sound lengthy and awesome

I don't think I'll get this. I think I'll wait to get the 48fps version - whenever it comes.

I'm afraid it's just the one - a filmmakers commentary. A shame as I imagine the cast one would have been fantastic between those dwarf actors.

November 4th is the UK release date.

I'm pretty sure it will never happen. Blu ray players are incompatible with that format. 1080p is 24fps only.

Think I'll hold off until the boxset comes out. I can wait a couple of years.
