Like you've said, Pacific Rim is picking up momentum now that it's officially considered good.

Worldwide or domestic only? I thought I read that was the worldwide number.

"Official domestic grosses are in for Thursday late shows and Friday midnights. Warner Bros says Legendary Pictures’ Pacific Rim overperformed with $3.6M - equal to last month’s late shows for World War Z which went on to earn an all-inclusive Thursday/Friday gross of $25.2M and weekend of $66.4M."

I'm curious as to how it'll do in Japan which opens in August.

I think I read somewhere that the international (not worldwide) number was $3.7 million or something like that.

I gotta think the kiddie flick will win out again, so I went with DM2.

Then maybe Grown Ups 2 in 2nd place, followed closely by Pacific Rim in 3rd. Those two could flip, but I think DM2 will win by a decent margin overall.

I have to go with PR, and that's not out of optimism. I'm reminded of several weeks ago when World War Z was tracking terribly and then Paramount dropped 4 early screenings and encouraged the film goers to talk about it. Word of mouth, coupled with good reviews, turned WWZ into a surprise hit.

I think the same thing will happen with PR. Positive word of mouth and good reviews are there, so I think it'll take the number 1spot this weekend.

I don't really care what everything else does, I just want Grown Ups to bomb. It looks like total trash.

it looked awful but it is certainly not bombing. Should have at least a $40 million weekend on its way to over $100 million. Get ready for more Sandler sequels!

How does Sandler have any credibility left. Makes me sick that his films get sequels and dredd gets put on the chopping block.
