Skullgirls is a great indie success story from crowd funding. I loosely know some of the people on the art team. It's made with a ton of love and great care is being taken to make it one of the most balanced fighters out there right now.
King of Fighters XIII is the great return of a great series. KOF XII was like a half finished game. But XIII rights all the wrongs. It is also remarkably balanced, despite a huge 30-ish character roster. I'm a Tekken guy, myself. As I'm not really into fighting games with a ton of jumping. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is on PSN and disc based. It doesn't have major balance issues, but it is a little bloated with a few too similar characters and the "bound" system extends juggling a bit too much. Virtua Fighter 5 takes a special person to really get into. It's very hardcore, very little flash. I'm not a fan of ring outs, though. a couple of slightly more accessible fighters would be Persona 4 Arena and Blaze Blue. Both are made by the same company. P4 is even more accessible than Blaze Blue is. They both feature fantastic graphics and some of the best netcode. there are some others, too. Like Super Street Fighter 4. Marvel VS. Capcom. There's a free to play/freemium Tekken. It's got a really stupid leveling system tacked in. But you can use it as a demo to see if you still like Tekken. Then pickup TTT2. |

Street Fighter
Mortal Kombat Marvel vs Capcom 3 IDA with this. Injustice wasnt like a reskin of MK. Its different in so many ways. I loved MK and while Injustice is a great game, I just couldnt get into it. Last edited by Havok83; 07-15-2013 at 09:40 AM. |

Wish I had a newer version of Mortal Kombat. I've been playing a lot of Deadly Alliance lately on the Xbox original. Old it may be, but it's still a bad ass fighting game. It will keep me well entertained until the PS4 releases. And I plan to continue playing it now and then until a new version of the game comes out. That is if a new one does comes about, I hope so.
I almost forgot how much I loved MK. It's the game that really got me into gaming back in the day. I started out with it's first installment. And I've played them all up to Deadly Alliance. I also love Soul Calibur a lot too. |

Try Tekken Tag Tournament 1 HD with the Tekken movie or Tekken 5 is on the PSN.
I didn't care for Tekken 6 that much and Tekken Tag 2 is almost as good as TT1. Except as mentioned before the 'bounds' and the never ending 'juggles'. Which almost kill TT2 sometimes. |

In my opinion, TTT2 is better than TTT1, because of all the new moves and new characters. Bound is a bummer, but it's not such a huge bummer that I would tell people to play a 13 year old game!. Tekken 5 DR is still great, as it has most of the moves and some of the new characters. It was free at some point...
