Wonder why they're only getting 250? Just so they can attach that 'ultra limited' to their description?

Presume Zavvi have just bought a number of the US boxes and disk packaging to use for their release.

Zavvi work on a limited back catalogue basis as they don't stock many Oder BD as they don't obviously want to tie up capital in inventory. So they have probably picked a number they can shift by Christmas.

It is definitely not the US set. The UK version is 4 discs per season instead of 3 and Zavvi lists the set as 33 discs (4x8 + 1 bonus disc). Additionally the US sets are region A locked.

To me the picture looks exactly the same. So unless they are going to produce two of those customs boxes in different sizes then either the Zavvi product description or picture is wrong.

We all know there's not going to be 2 different size blu-ray sets, I would say Zavvi put the wrong info. Its happened before...

Edit...Did about 30 seconds of research and if you look at Zavvi's description, its the same as the DVD blood slide set (33 discs) that they also have listed on their site, so again, Zavvi just got the info wrong....the DVD set will be (4x8) 32 discs + 1 bonus, and the Blu-ray set will be (3x8) 24 discs + 1 bonus...

Well, that sucks. I was hoping for a box set of the UK blu-rays since they have extras on the disc and audio commentaries the US blu-rays don't have.

Well, we can still hope that they include the extras/commentaries on the discs and that the bonus disc will just be never-before-released extras...

There's talk that these sets are not wooden but cardboard with wood veneer/covering to it. Just an FYI

The first is the packaging. It comes in a large blood slide box (the box is cardboard, not wood)

The faux wood box is nothing but low end chipboard with a cheap paper covering. The book is nothing but a collection of magazine covers from the past & amateur fan art.
Seems a bit on the cheap side of things. However, $27.49 (currently) per season is still not a bad price

The following review of the complete series set says the commentaries from the Region B blu-rays are included!

I ordered the slides set (which sounds like it's going to be a disappointment when Zavvi's shipment actually arrives) and the head set, originally from Amazon in the States but I switched to Zavvi for the slide set to avoid customs as soon as they announced they were releasing the "slide set" version.

Yodel have just delivered the "head" version. Not in an Amazon box but in a plain box with just one label saying "Paramount Pictures" and some blurb about how the item can be displayed before November 12th but mustn't go on sale. This is clearly a box intended for shipping to USA stores. No Amazon receipt inside either and just one label with my name and address slapped on the outside. The delivery guy actually asked who it had come from as the box was so clean and there was no indication as to where it would have to go back to if not claimed.

The box is huge!

I have to say I'm very happy with the item - not least because I haven't been hit with huge customs charges because the item was delivered from within the UK. But the item itself oozes quality. After so many disappointments recently ("The Dome" anyone?!) it's nice to have a high quality item actually delivered - funny because of the two "special editions" offered this looked the weakest. I suspect that when Zavvi's "slide set" does show up I'll find it's not as good as this one.

The attached photo doesn't really show the size of the item well - it's basically taller (and of course a lot wider) than the "I, Robot" head that's in the foreground.

The giant head version is 50% off at $272.50 and comes with a free "dexter killer bundle" that includes a shower curtain, pen, key chain, and sticker. Straight from the Showtime store.....
