Haha, oh Christ. I already own the French limited five disc HD-DVD/DVD/CD set, the limited Korean DVD release with book style packaging, the US HD-DVD, the limited Korean Blu-ray and the English del Toro boxset with pop-up packaging.

I'll be buying this Steelbook for definite.

I own a copy of the lossless version. When I ripped it to my PC and watched it back I didn't notice an audio error, just that the subtitles were often massively out of sync (though I assumed that had been done to make them easier to read). I'll see if I can track down the thread for it.

EDIT: Just checked. It's apparently a pitch issue. According to the source I found it only affects the 5.1 DTS-HD MA, it does not affect the included 2.0 PCM. It is however unconfirmed, I've only seen one person bring it up, nobody else was able to confirm.

And if I'm being entirely honest, it isn't a deal breaker for me, you can decide for yourselves if it is for you. Most other forums have said that UK got the best PQ though, so you might wish to do a little computer trickery and switch audio tracks between releases.

It is almost certainly B locked though.

We don't even know that there is/was an audio error with 100% certainty, I'll check my copy which was purchased earlier this year, see if I can make a comparison or something...

Also, we need to check the listing, because it's possible StudioCanal (formally Optimum) are using the steelbook to burn off the version with lossy audio...

Bad news - I've checked my copy and there is a pitch disparity on the DTS-MA 5.1 track (but not on the PCM 2.0).

I'll leave up to you guys to decide if its a deal breaker or not. Personally I doubt you'd notice it if you weren't looking for it, but I understand many people want the best version they can get.

I love it, obviously. I mean, I still don't think I'll double-dip so my opinion it it matters not a jot, but I think it's a fantastic choice. Especially minus any text. The image just speaks for itself (though I know some people feel differently about title-less steels).

I don't like the artwork, I prefer simple designs. There's too much going on. I think I'll keep my standard amaray...

Both UK releases had the good video transfer, but the first one had lossy audio and the Special Edition had a pitch issue.

I believe both are region B locked. If that factors into anyone's decision.
