Thanks for the info everyone, especially Dickie. Just pre-ordered it, hopefully in time for Christmas. This is one of my all-time favorites, so it's definitely worth it for the upgrade, even if it's not perfect.

If the images in this review are accurate caps from the German disc, it doesn't really seems like a worthwhile upgrade if one's got the US/Canadian release:

Those images in the review look like publicity stills, Checked a few other reviews on their site and it seems that's what they do.

Best way to describe the Capelight release is it's the same transfer with all the digital errors fixed, blacks are deeper, it doesn't have all the compression issues the US has an English DTS-HD MA 5.1 track (but no Mono) and more extras

Have you seen both versions?

Any chance on seeing one or two screen captures (using VLC)? Hell, just a comparison between the outside shot of the sorority house in the beginning should be enough to tell a difference.

Quick question, is the sleeve reversible with 'non ratings' artwork?

I ended up ordering this too a couple of weeks ago.
I had never seen the US/Canadian Blu-ray (though I had always intended to pick it up) but once this was announced I decided I'd go for it when it was made known that it would have more special features. Glad to hear the picture is a bit improved too, perhaps not with detail, but any improvement is nice. I thought it looked pretty damn good considering it's age and budget so I was curious to know if it was the same or not, knowing that it was from the same source.

Just got mine and watched a couple of scenes. I totally concur with Dickieduvet - it's a huge improvement. In particular, I found that the grain appeared much more stable and nowhere near as distracting. There's still room for further improvement, but I feel my money was well spent.

I ordered this Blu-ray from Amazon.de on the 15th and it still hasn't dispatched. Does Amazon.de usually take this long to dispatch? Haven't ordered from them in a while.

They were on strike on Monday over pay and conditions, guess there's a huge backlog of orders to process.

Yeah, just on Monday to prove a point. Think they had their demands met

It appears to be region free. I couldn't find any region info on the cover, and it played in my Oppo while I was still set to region A.

Popped it into my region A Sony just to be sure, and it plays. However, the first documentary does not, so I'm assuming that's PAL.
