Tested this on region A & B settings on my player and it plays on both settings, so I assume it's completely region free. The blu-ray case doesn't have a region code logo either.

Watched In the Fall of the Aftermath blu ray last night. The Angels egg footage looks superb in HD.
Sad to belive the original anime can’t get a decent blu ray release.

The Japanese Blu-Ray is exceptional. No English subs, but an srt is widely available and if you know how you can rip the film, add the subs and enjoy it 100%。

No need to rip the bluray if you've got the right software. I use MPC-HC. Just add the subtitle to the playback, if it's properly timed for bluray.

Does anyone know a good source of subtitles for this movie? I have encoded my bluray with an srt sub I got from here HERE but has two points where they have advertisements that pop up. Any link to a proper one would be appreciated

Can't you edit srt files? I'm no expert but I was under the impression it was just a textfile with time codes

Programs like subtitle edit & subtitled workshop are available as freeware and can adjust the subtitles. Angel's egg only has about 100 lines of text so it should be easy.

Bummer. It's a very unique artistic film. Was expecting at least a US release by now. Sure, it won't sell much, but it's not that obscure.

No clue. In any event, I wouldn't call this a dealbreaker. While not ideal, it's not a particularly tight crop, not to mention a lot of LDs didn't precisely reproduce 1.85:1 either if you measure screencaps and account for NTSC artefacts distorting the very edges of many pictures.
