I've never seen any of his films but I've heard nothing but good things about him. He seems like a worthy contender that hadnt been mentioned yet.

This. I know for a fact this is the case, at least with a small sample size, because I loved The Innkeepers and I really like House of the Devil, so I recommended them to others and I received very little positive feedback from the experiences.

I love his slow burn approach, but others quickly call it boring.

I think Ti West swore off Hollywood after having had such a bad experience on Cabin Fever 2 (which also led him to pull out of The Haunting in Connecticut 2).
