Import CDs has it listed at $18.70 + Shipping/Processing = $21.70 final price, best so far!

Also, this title has been delayed until January 28th.

Barrymore's performance is a masterpiece of physical acting.
Couldn't agree more! The first transformation scene, alone, in the Barrymore version is enough to warrant a Blu-ray buy. His Mr. Hyde is the most physically and mentally deranged ever conceived in the cinematic history of the character, hands down.

In case anyone was wondering, the release date on this appears to have been pushed back from today to January 28, 2014.

ImportCDs upped their pre-order price from $21.70 to $29.90 (shipped). Huge bummer. That was a sure-fire purchase for me, but now with DeepDiscount being the cheapest at $25.70 (shipped) I'm on the fence.

Yeah same here. But I will probably end up ordering it closer to release day.

Damnit.

I know sometimes nothing can be done and it's all about source material. But with Kino you can never really be sure. Obviously it's asking alot to have "pristine" HD transfer to blu-ray of a film from 1920 - and Kino has actually had a few really good transfers of just these types of films. But they've also had a few lemons. I wonder how prevalent damage or decomposition might have been on previous DVD releases?

I have the old DVD, and those grabs don't look all that different to me. This film has always been a little rough.

This is why copyright laws should never be allowed to expire. Public Domain has destroyed too much great art. This is Paramount's movie. They should spend the money to restore it as best they can and then let Warner release it.

I have also reviewed this disc and I think singling out this one phrase (I didnt get to read their review before it vanished) is overstating it. There is one scene and one two minute snippet that were clearly not pulled from a 35mm print but some standard-def source. The rest of it looks as good as can be expected, IMO -- lots of print damage, but it was on par with their Keaton Blus in my opinion.

Paramount probably unloaded any rights and film elements they had for the film ages ago. They sold off most of their pre-1948 film library to MCA/Universal back in 1958.

I doubt anyone at Comcast has ever heard of this movie.

I was hoping this was the March version too. That's the one I'm waiting for. That's the best of the bunch by a long shot.
