Last time I tried to watch Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight, the HDX stream was messed up. The audio was also way off because it uses a different Universal logo at the beginning, the movie was squished to 4:3. Watching the HD and SD screen audio and video appeared correct.

Other reports about this: https://forum.vudu.com/showthread.ph...orrect-on-Vudu

Sad, as the 1.78:1 was mostly open matte, and looked great during the effects shots like the Dragon escape scene and the final battle. If all HD rentals remove the 1.78:1 version then I'll have to spend a lot to buy the PSP and the UMD video version to getthis open-matte version.

Can anyone tell me whether the iTunes version is 1.78:1 or OAR? Please tell me. I am planning on downloading it for the open-matte itself. I have the OAR.

Does anyone know if Christine has been fixed?

While I'm here, add The Funhouse to list. It's cropped to 1.78:1 on Vudu (and the PQ is pretty awful in general).

You can add Where Eagles Dare to the list of movies with the incorrect aspect ratio. It's starts off fine (but the print does show some damage) but after the credits goes to 16x9.

Took a while, but I finally updated the list on both the Vudu forum and the Blu-ray.com forum. Currently, there are 176 titles with an incorrect aspect ratio and, since creation, only 12 titles have been fixed.

Add Earth Girls Are Easy (HDX). OAR 2.39 only for the credits, cropped to 1.78 for the feature.

Someone should do a list of stereo movies that are supposed to be 5.1, like Mission Impossible III.

Just added it.

A stereo list would be helpful, but it would be an incredibly long list. Vudu has far too many movies that are 2.0 that should be 5.1.

Another for the list: When a Stranger Calls (2006) (OAR: 2.40:1, Vudu: 1.78:1).

I've been noticing Vudu has a few movies with incorrectly set black levels too. I have no idea how that happens.

In 2 1/2 years. Pretty pathetic.

about a week and a half ago I submitted a service ticket for Frankenstein and Creature from the Black Lagoon. They escalated it, but no response at all yet beyond that.

Flixster streams Frankenstein correctly, streams Creature at 1.33 without stretching it, but still at 1.33 not 1.85

Flixster streams Blazing Saddles correctly at 2.40, but Batman Begins is incorrect there too. Cinema Now streams Batman Begins correctly at 2.40

Default List of Vudu Movies with Incorrect Aspect Ratio

Batman Begins and Ben-Hur are both in the right aspect ratio on my Flixster and CinemaNow iPhone apps. Batman Begins is in the wrong aspect ratio in the Flixster app on my Smart TV. Explain that one. I wish Amazon would work with blasted Ultraviolet. MGO has them right too. It's weird. Does WB hand them HDTV cropped masters or something? I can't imagine Vudu crops some titles themselves, but not others.

Wow, that is distressing. I didn't even think about this possibly being an issue.

So, they've fixed a handful of titles.
Are people here emailing their Support and informing them about the issues? I saw one user post about that and a couple titles he mentioned were corrected.

There's a section of their forum with info about which titles aren't in the right ratio. One of the mods is from Vudu, and he basically says it's a "known issue." Since its 1% of their customer base who actually cares, I can't imagine fixing any of it is a priority.

Yes, Vudu will get the TV cropped masters and just not notice. We're probably lucky that the list is limited to just those items. Vudu sometimes has different ID versions of the same movies (e.g. Oklahoma is Cinemascope on Flixster and Todd-AO version on Vudu, both are different prints). But other examples, where there are not 2 different prints of the same movie, have the same problem.
