It's pretty much been canceled. They do them for the start of each business quarter - January, April, July, & October. October has already come and gone and now with the holidays coming up in just a couple weeks, there is no chance of it coming this year. It might return (highly unlikely) in a different format in 2014, but do not count on it.

Because we are going into the holiday season, I would not expect it to happen anytime soon.

I would wait until maybe February or March, when retail numbers tend to be low.

I always thought the U&S promotion was super successful for Best Buy.
It was when I did the majority of my Blu-ray buying.

Is Best Buy in some sort of financial straits or something?

Have you been there recently? They have almost completely gotten rid of their media section. Most stores are transitioning into cell phone and other appliances now as that is where they are getting the bulk of their sales. By Q1 2014, media (CDs, DVD, Blu) will be even more limited and reduced.

The last time I was in a Best Buy, was this past August, when a U&S was in progress.

I doubt they're making much during U&S, that it would be deemed "successful" for them. For us, yes...but not sure for them.

Yeah, I just openly asked the manager at my local store about this the other day and he said that he was told they wouldn't be bringing this back anymore. Then again this was at the Anderson, SC store so he actually more than likely doesn't have an actual clue.

The worst Best Buy retail store in existence, ugh.

DVD's of any of the brick & mortar stores.

brick and mortar stores selling movies are pretty much imploding. soon it will be walmart and online only

I think Target would still be able to afford it alongside Walmart, just because of their market type.

The weird thing is a lot of local "mom and pop" stores don't seem to be affected around my area. And, the used stores (local and chains) seem to be doubling in inventory every few months.

I talked to a manager about this a few days ago, and he said that, while he didn't have any definitive knowledge of if/when it would happen again, the next round (if it does happen) would either be the week before the week of Black Friday or the last week or two of December.

Think he was just guesstimating. I highly doubt they'd even try to run a promotion during BF, because that's already a promotion in itself, and around Christmas when deals are all around. It would become a debacle!!

He was guesstimating, but he said it would be the week before Black Friday, not the week of Black Friday.

They would be wise to do it right after Christmas.
Target all that Christmas money that folks are sitting on.
Give them a reason to splurge.
