I am not quite so sure if your post is meant to be serious or not but this is what the chaps at ZONA have been able to come up with. Obviously the points you make are not to be argued but...any visual evidence was better than nothing.

wow. I was wacthing a side by side comparison on the PS3 earlier for Casino Royale and thought Sony had softened the DVD side a little more than usual to make more of an impact as when I'd watch DVD, I never thought it looked that bad.

Seeing these comparisons though, I don't think Sony retrouched the DVD side on the comparison anymore.

simply stunning

Wow, nice pictures and comparisons! The comment about showing these to someone on the fence about jumping into the blu world would certainly open their eyes for sure!

Very nice!!

I compare the dvd version to Bluray all the time. I just compared Black snake moan dvd to bluray. Dvd looked good when I first put it in and thought it would be close. Once I watched a little of the bluray and switched back to the dvd, the dvd looked awful. This is with UPCONVERTED dvd on top of that. I watched the dvd version for a minute and once you see the bluray, the dvd is almost unwatchable, because you notice how blurry/fuzzy and undetailed it is. Never mind the best part of bluray....the lossless soundtracks. I think the sound upgrade is bigger and better then the picture upgrade from dvd to bluray.

Looks awesome!
this is due to focusing, camera can't focus on everything at the same time. to give a not unreal look (although the movie is mostly sfx ).

the worst high budget movie with wrong focusing i remember was titanic, where everything is so focus.
when camera focus on jack, the sea is also crystal clear.

I dont know how to do the thing with pics but maybe a mod can do it for me, i think this pic really shows what blu ray can bring to the table, out of all the pics i think is the perfect one.

I read the article and nothing was mentioned, does anyone know if this was a 480P DVD shot or a 480P upconverted to 1080i DVD shot?

Just in case i sent them an email asking.

Are there any comparisons of "The Untouchables" or any older movie and Animes such as "Paprika"? I'd be interested to see the differences.

Wow, those are absolutely incredible! Makes me want to move a TV into the family room and put up a side-by-side comparison and then invite the friends over... Absolutely stunning pictures (well, 1/2 of them, anyways)

Thanks for these! I've gotten the trilogy on BR, but haven't seen any samples of the DVD version. This will make my uncle change for sure to HD (he says he can't tell the difference, which is a shame).
