Why is that the studios in charge of the Marvel films are so selective in what movies they release as exclusives and other ones they don't? Does it have anything with how well received they are in the theater? Because I know that both the Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man got exclusives from both Target/Best Buy I believe while also releasing regular Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

As good (if not better) than the original. Already looking forward to the BD release.

I will have to see some weekend next month, going up to my local AMC and checking this out with all the good reviews I am hearing.

I liked it better than the original by a decent amount, but I will say this film had some rather weak villains. Kurse was basically Bane from "Batman & Robin" brought to the Marvel Cinematic universe, and Malekith was basically "just there" for most of the film doing a whole lot of nothing.

I also found it a bit peculiar that
[Show spoiler]Thor ended up unable to defeat either villain. Kurse was killed by Loki using a Dark Elf weapon, and Malekith was eliminated by the humans utilizing their warp technology.

Thor and Captain America both got exclusives.. I don't see why Thor 2 won't get one

Because Marvel is fully in Disney's grasp as of Iron Man 3. (Although the Avengers BD seemed to be too and had exclusives...) Thor and Cap were Paramount releases.

exclusives usually come from retailers that work out deals with the studios.. if BB, Target or Walmart want an exclusive they will reach out to Disney and work something out

I saw it in 3D. I highly enjoyed the visuals however will admit that seeing it in 2D is probably just as satisfying given that in some aspects the 3D did fall flat. But I must stress that this did not in any fashion take away from the enjoyment of the film, definitely go see it! 3D or 2D, it does not matter just be sure to see it lol. Oh actually now that I think of it, see it in 3D. Only because the studio attached an exclusive 5 minute preview scene of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" that plays before "Thor: The Dark World" begins. This preview was added to all 3D showings.

Hopefully! I hope Target gets the sweetest deal if any exclusives come about.

You mean the Cap preview was SUPPOSED to be added to all 3D showings. I didn't get it when I saw Thor in 3D yesterday. I'm not sure why.

I really wish the times had worked out for me to see the movie in 2D instead. I wanted to see About Time also, and the only way to do both was to see Thor in 3D.

Love this a lot more than the first one.

Saw it in IMAX 3D, no need to buy it in 3D cuz 3D effects were almost non existent.

I watched it in IMAX 3D and there was no Cap preview there either

Well did you see it at Cinemark? It's only showing in 3D screenings at Cinemark theaters, not all 3D screenings everywhere.

That's really strange, from what I recall it was stated that the exclusive preview of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" was attached to all 3D showings. Perhaps it was but only exclusive to a theater chain? I saw it at an AMC Theater, did either of you go to AMC too? If you did then not sure why some theaters had the preview and others did not, but if you didn't go to AMC then perhaps it was a theater chain exclusive. Not really sure. Sorry you didn't get to see it, maybe they'll add it as an extra on the special features bluray for "Thor: The Dark World."

I viewed the film in XD 3D at my Cinemark Theater, and the Winter Soldier teaser/trailer was included in 3D before the start of The Dark World.
